United States vs Bosnia & Herzegovina Prediction - World Cup Round of 32

30/06/2026|SB Staff|World Cup 2026 Tips & Predictions
USA vs Bosnia

USA will be aiming to reach the Round of 16 in their home tournament, but they’ll have a challenging opponent in Bosnia & Herzegovina standing in their way on Thursday, July 2, with kick-off at 10:00 AEST.

The Americans would finish top of Group D after Mauricio Pochettino led them to two wins and one defeat across their three games. Bosnia’s Sergej Barbarez has led his nation to their best finish in this tournament already, but he’ll be aiming to go further after leading them to third in Group B after a win, a draw, and a loss (a draw coming against Canada).

To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!

How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.

For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!

Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.

Quick Picks

Our pick: USA to Qualify

Value bet: Either Team in Extra Time

Long shot: Draw 1-1

USA vs Bosnia & Herzegovina prediction

The USA appear to have taken advantage of home crowd support, having played all three games so far on the West Coast.

They had already qualified for the next stage before their defeat to Turkiye in their last game, but only suffered defeat due to a last-minute goal.

Pochettino’s side have looked impressive, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have never kept a clean sheet in their six World Cup matches, which is another reason (with home advantage) as why the USA are perceived as huge favourites in the moneyline odds.

As our United States vs Bosnia and Herzegovina betting odds page shows, the hosts are firmly fancied here.

However, it’s worth noting that this market doesn’t include extra-time, which is where this game could be headed.

Including qualifiers, four of Bosnia and Herzegovina's last five tournament matches as an underdog have resulted in a draw.

This makes the value being offered in the ‘USA in Extra Time’ or ‘USA in Penalty Shootout’ markets potentially better. Even the value in the ‘Either Team in Extra Time’ has better value, given the record of the Europeans.

We think USA will be the most likely to win, but we think this could require extra time.

For a wider sweep of the tournament, the World Cup betting odds are worth a squiz, and if you've got credit sitting in the account, here's how bonus bets work before you back the US or Bosnia.

USA vs Bosnia & Herzegovina score prediction

The USA have managed to score at least two goals in each of their three tournament matches so far, suggesting that there is value in the ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market. Bosnia and Herzegovina have shown that they can concede, conceding four against Switzerland.

However, they shipped just one against Canada and Qatar. Including qualifiers, four of Bosnia and Herzegovina's last five tournament matches as an underdog have resulted in a 1-1 draw. This is why the ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ has better value, as does the ‘1-1 Correct Score’ markets.

Furthermore, the 'Under 2.5 Goals' market has hit during regulation time in each of the United States' last four day matches at the tournament. With the West Coast heat, and a defensive team in Bosnia, goals may be at a premium.

That said, there appears to be value in the BTTS hitting. Including qualifiers, the 'Both Teams to Score' market has hit in each of Bosnia and Herzegovina's last nine tournament matches.

The 'Both Teams to Score in the Second Half' market has hit in three of the United States' last four competition matches.

We think the 1-1 draw at the end of regulation has the best value.

If you fancy stacking this one with other results, have a read of how a multi bet works before you commit, and the World Cup betting markets guide is handy for sorting out where the value sits across the tournament.

Player markets to watch

It’ll be interesting to see whether Pochettino decides to start Folarin Balogun, with the AS Monaco forward having missed the game against Turkiye. He has two goals in two games, scoring twice in the first Group Stage game.

He looked extremely lively against Paraguay in which he managed to get his brace, but he was ineffective against Australia, as he didn’t register a shot. Still, he will be a real threat if he plays, and why he offers good value as an anytime goalscorer.

Christian Pulisic made his first appearance of the tournament against Turkiye as a substitute, and could be in line to play a greater role in the Round of 32. He has scored or assisted in three of his last four tournament appearances, meaning he offers value in the ‘To Score or Assist’ market.

Ermin Mahmic as an anytime goalscorer is another who has value, as the Bosnian has scored a goal in each of the last two matches for his country.
