Randwick was rated Soft 6 midweek and our forecast is all clear leading to the weekend so we will lift a little, possibly even to a Good 4 by time we get it started on Saturday. The rail's out at 4 metres and of course it's something of a transition day from off-season racing; we get just a little feel today of what's to come with our first G1 of the season back here in a fortnight. The Midway gets us going and MAFIA was an almost immediate scratching leaving the lead to 5 and 4 crossing up. 12 assumes an inside trail and 2 will try to slot in. BANGKOK HOTTIE draws to give a start but was last seen winning a decent sort of 2YO contest and she could be aimed at better races before too long.
