KOMOCEAN (5) was a very impressive winner fresh up, and then got going too late in heavy ground at New Plymouth 4 weeks ago when finishing third as an odds-on favourite. The extra furlong is the perfect next step third up from a spell, and she is the one to beat. RIVERPLATE (2) came from last and just came up short when finishing fourth over 1300m at Tauherenikau 15 days ago. She has won 3 times over this trip when trained in Australia, and her next win is not far away. GOHUGO (1) sat 3 wide for the whole race but was still too strong at Tauherenikau last start. He is very consistent when fit, and another top run is expected, especially from a superior gate. KOSTA (8) was well beaten in a stronger field at Trentham over 1200m last time out. He steps up to 1400m for the first time this prep, and he would not be a shock winner. MONOLOGUE (11) ended her last campaign as a deserved winner at Trentham by over 3 lengths. She is stronger this year, and she is worth each-way consideration.
