ICELAND POPPY (4) has been showing pace in both of her starts this season, and stuck on gamely to finish runner-up at Te Aroha just over 7 weeks ago when trying to lead all the way. She cops a wide gate, but if she can cross over early, then she will take some pegging back. IVY TIME (5) came home with a rush on debut when finishing third, and less than a length from the winner here nearly 4 weeks ago on a heavy track. She can settle closer to the pace from the ace draw this time, and should pick up her first win at short notice. LA BELLA UNO (10) won the latest of her 2 Foxton trials, and is sure to be well educated on her home track here. The market will tell the full story. ROBERTO VELOCE (2) will give the local Robbie Patterson stable a strong hand in the race, and despite drawing a wide gate, he should be respected, especially if there is any money for him. QUENZA (12) has been well schooled at the trials, and the Walker/Bergerson stable only starts them when they are ready.
