SALTO VELOCE (4) sets the standard on the strength of his two-run first campaign, particularly the Sapporo Dirt second when sent out odds-on and beaten two lengths by Temu Fire. He is yet to race around 1400m, but his exposed form has more substance than most of these and he resumes as the horse to beat. TAGANO GALE (5) is the obvious danger after a well-supported debut second to Miho Maru at this track, with that 1400m placing giving him the most direct form reference. MEISHO GIFT (7) was only sixth on debut at Kyoto, yet he was near the top of betting and was beaten just under five lengths, so there is scope for improvement into a Mdn. LANCE OF KNIGHT (2) was unwanted in the market on debut but still worked into third behind Miho Maru, and while Tagano Gale had his measure that day, a repeat keeps him in the minor-money conversation.
