Norway vs England

Norway and England will fight it out for a place in the tournament’s semi-finals after both impressed in the quarters to reach this matchup. The game will be played on Sunday, July 12, at 07:00 AEST.

Ståle Solbakken’s men upset the odds and beat Brazil in the previous round to reach the last eight, with a double from Erling Haaland securing a 2-1 victory. Thomas Tuchel’s England avoided disaster in Mexico City, defeating co-hosts Mexico 3-2 in a much-talked-about game amid a fiery atmosphere.

To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!

How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.

For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!

Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.

Quick Picks

Our pick: England to qualify

Value bet: Haaland to score 2+ goals

Long shot: 2-1 in regulation

Norway vs England prediction

Almost a Premier League clash between these two nations who have several stars playing in the English top-flight, this game could be a lot closer than some may have initially expected it to be.

The moneyline odds pre-match have England as comfortable favourites, so there may be better value in the draw. A Norway victory does look unlikely, as England have won 12 of their last 13 tournament matches (including qualifiers).

Still, Norway did beat Brazil in the previous round when many wouldn’t have given them a chance.

Given the quality that is on the pitch and that most players will know each other well, having played with or against each other often, this could be a tight game, let alone the fact that it is for a place in the semi-finals of the world’s biggest soccer competition.

We think England will win, but not necessarily easily.

With Haaland leading the line, it's a fun time to scan through the all-time leading goalscorers and see where he's tracking, and once you've squared that away the World Cup betting odds page has this Norway–England clash priced up.

Norway vs England score prediction

The attacking quality of both teams, whether in finishing or creating chances, suggests there could be goals in this game.

The ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ market has value, as it has hit in each of England's 11 previous Knockout Stage matches played outside of its own region. However, the ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ market has better potential value; including qualifiers, it has hit in seven of Norway's last nine matches.

The BTTS is likely to hit, with England having conceded in their last two games and Norway having failed to keep a clean sheet in this tournament so far. Including qualifiers, the 'Both Teams to Score' market has also hit in each of Norway's last seven competition matches.

A first-half goal also has value. The '1st Half Over 0.5 Goals' market has hit in each of England's last seven Knockout Stage matches. For Norway, this has hit in all but one of their five games so far, with the Brazil clash being the exception.

Our correct score prediction in 90 mins is 2-1.

If you fancy backing both Haaland and Kane to find the net, it's worth reading up on what a multi bet actually is before you lock it in, and the World Cup betting markets rundown covers the rest of your options for this one.

Player markets to watch

Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Martin Odegaard are all players worth keeping an eye on across various markets.

Kane and Haaland will both offer value as anytime goal scorers, being the focal points of their attacks and having positive tournaments so far in front of goal. However, the odds are understandable short in this market, which is why better value can be found in the 2+ goals scored market.

Haaland has scored two or more goals in seven of his last eight tournament appearances (including qualifiers), while Kane has had a brace in two of his last five. He has also scored at least one goal in each of England's last four Knockout Stage matches.

Bellingham has long-shot value as the first goalscorer, having done so twice in the last three matches for the Three Lions, while Odegaard has value in the score or assist market, with three assists in four games.

But Thomas Tuchel will demand more from the rest of his team in terms of chipping in with goals. Apart from Bellingham and Kane, only Marcus Rashford has scored in this tournament for England.

For value, this could be the game Arsenal and England midfield powerhouse Declan Rice gets on the scoresheet.
