Spain vs Belgium Prediction - World Cup Quarter Final
09/07/2026|SB Staff|World Cup 2026 Tips & Predictions
Spain have kept their hopes alive of winning back-to-back huge soccer tournaments, but another European nation stands in their way as they look to secure their own bit of glory, Belgium.
Spain needed a last-minute effort to get past Portugal in the Round of 16 to secure their place in the quarter-finals, where they’ll meet a Belgium side who arguably played their best soccer of the tournament in their 4-1 dismantling of the USA.
The two nations will meet in M98 of this year’s competition, with the game scheduled for Saturday, July 11, at 05:00 AEST.
To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!
How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.
For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!
Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.
Quick Picks
Our pick: Spain to win
Value bet: BTTS not hitting
Long shot: Spain 1-0 correct score
Spain vs Belgium prediction
Spain have been made the early pre-match favourites to win this game in the moneyline odds, with their odds even shorter to qualify.
As our Spain vs Belgium betting odds page shows, it’s worth noting that Luis de la Fuente’s side appear to have found some momentum after their shock start to Cape Verde, as they have won four in a row.
Belgium haven’t exactly lit the tournament up with the quality of their squad, but Rudi Garcia’s side appears to have started to click and get things going.
A fairly unispiring group of group stage results saw them face Senegal in the Round of 32, where they needed and received a miracle to win that game, scoring a penalty with almost the last kick of the game in extra time after being 2-0 down until the 86th minute.
They were much better against the co-hosts, although the USA played perhaps their worst game of the tournament.
There’s value in the draw as a potential long shot in 90 minutes, but we think the most likely outcome is for Spain to win this in regulation.
If you're weighing up a Spain-Belgium punt, have a squiz at how to build a multi bet before you lock it in, and the wider World Cup betting markets are worth a browse for the bigger picture.
Spain vs Belgium score prediction
Given the quality of talent on the field, it would be a surprise if we didn’t see goals scored in this game. The two teams have a lot of depth when it comes to creativity and finishing, but it’s also worth recognising that they can also be pretty adept when it comes to defending.
With that in mind, the BTTS not hitting has value, although perhaps a long shot due to the quality on the field. Spain are yet to concede a goal at this tournament, keeping the likes of Portugal out of their net. The only time Belgium have failed to score was against Iran, and they’ve scored 12 goals since since, but Spain are a different quality of opponent to anyone they’ve faced so far.
Indeed, all the data points would suggest that goals are likely:
The 'Over 2.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Belgium's last three tournament matches.
The '2nd Half Over 1.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Belgium's last three matches.
The 'Over 3.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Belgium's last four Knockout Stage matches played in North, Central America & the Caribbean.
However, with how cagey this game could be with a place in the semis up for grabs, we think Spain could replicate their performance against Portugal and produce something similar.
We think this means there’s value in the ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ market, with potentially better value worth exploring in the ‘Under 1.5 Goals’ market.
Player markets to watch
If you think there could be multiple goals in this game, there are a few players worth keeping an eye on.
Mikel Oyarzabal is worth value as an anytime goalscorer, having scored four goals in this tournament so far. Across 58 caps for his nation, he has 29 goals - a strike-rate of one goal every two games. Given that, when he scores, he gets a second in this tournament, there’s value in exploring the possibility of him recording a brace in this one.
For Belgium, if you think they can score a goal, Leandro Trossard worth value as an anytime assist. He has recorded an assist in each of Belgium's last two tournament matches.
