Brazil vs Norway Prediction - World Cup Round of 16

Brazil vs Norway Round of 16

Brazil and Norway will face each other for a place in the last eight after both secured passage in their first knockout game.

The two will meet on Monday, July 6, at 06:00 AEST.

Carlo Ancelotti’s superstars left it late to progress against Japan, winning 2-1 with a last-gasp goal by Gabriel Martinelli.

Norway defeated the Ivory Coast by the same scoreline, although Erling Haaland’s winner came with five minutes or so of regulation time left.

To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!

How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.

For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!

Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.

Quick Picks

Our pick: Brazil to win

Value bet: Over 3.5 Goals

Long shot: Brazil to win 3-2

Brazil vs Norway prediction

Given the history of these two nations, it’s no surprise that many are making a one-sided judgement ahead of the game regarding the South Americans.

The Selecao have a tournament pedigree, knowing what it takes to be successful.

Still, they’ve been far from their best for two decades, which is why Ancelotti was brought in.

The Italian hasn’t had the easiest of rides in this tournament, seeing his team need to put in the hard work to get through, but they’ve managed it. It’s perhaps why they are considered big pre-match favourites in the moneyline for this one.

That said, Norway can’t be written off based on soccer history. Ståle Solbakken’s side have been able to impose themselves in almost every game, although their encounter against France saw them come undone in the final Group Stage game.

Remember, though, they made wholesale changes for that clash as they had already qualified

And with Manchester City star Erling Haaland leading the line, there’s always a goal threat.

There’s value in Norway’s odds for those who believe there could be another big upset in this year’s competition, with Brazil having lost four of their last five knockout stage matches as a favourite against UEFA nations.

As our Brazil vs Norway betting odds page shows, Brazil remain the favourites, and we think the most likely outcome will be a Brazil win.

For a semi-final like this, it's worth brushing up on how to spread your picks across a multi bet before you commit, and the World Cup betting markets are worth a squiz to see how these two shape up.

Brazil vs Norway score prediction

With the quality likely to be on display and the attacking soccer both nations can play, we think there’s a good chance of goals being scored.

Including qualifiers, the 'Over 2.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Norway's last eight tournament matches. Furthermore, the 'Over 2.5 Goals' market has hit in each of Brazil's last six knockout stage day matches against teams from a different region, having achieved it again against Japan.

With this, we think there could be better value in the ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ market. Including qualifiers, the 'Over 3.5 Goals' market has hit in seven of Norway's last eight competition matches.

By extension, this leads us to think the BTTS offers good value to hit. Including qualifiers, the 'Both Teams to Score' market has hit in each of Norway's last six tournament matches. Brazil have only conceded twice so far in four games, but Norway have scored in each of their four.

Our correct score prediction is for Brazil to win 3-2.

Player markets to watch

Despite failing to score against Japan, Vinicius Jr remains a big threat in attack, which is why he has value as an anytime goalscorer. Including qualifiers, the Real Madrid man has scored at least one goal in four of his last five appearances.

He has value as the ‘last goalscorer’ in this game; including qualifiers, he has been the last goalscorer in three of his last five tournament appearances.

The ‘Bruno Guimarães Anytime Assist’ market has value, as he has recorded at least one assist in three of Brazil's last four tournament matches, as does Martin Odegaard for Norway.

Including qualifiers, Arsenal’s Odegaard has recorded at least one assist in seven of his last eight competitive national team appearances.

Haaland is always good for a goal, scoring at least one in each of his last 14 tournament appearances, including qualifiers. Long-shot value is in him scoring 2+ goals. Including qualifiers, he has done so in six of his last seven appearances.
