West Coast Eagles vs Brisbane Lions Prediction - Round 19 2026

17/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Round 19 of the AFL season takes us west, with a red-hot Brisbane side landing in Perth to face an Eagles outfit that no longer resembles the easybeats of recent seasons.

The Lions have won five on the bounce and barely broken stride doing it, with last week's 149-59 demolition of Essendon at the Gabba their most emphatic statement yet.

Lachie Neale ran riot with forty disposals and Will Ashcroft was nearly as damaging with thirty-three touches and three goals of his own, as Brisbane reclaimed fourth spot on the ladder.

There's an extra layer to this one for Neale specifically. Out of contract at season's end and set to test unrestricted free agency, he arrives in the city where several rival clubs have been linked to him, playing in front of family who now call Perth home.

Whatever noise surrounds his future, on field he's in immaculate form, when that next contract arrives it’ll surely have plenty of 0s.

West Coast, for their part, have stopped being an afterthought. They pushed the in-form Western Bulldogs deep into the fourth quarter almost giving Bont a heart-attack last weekend, with Willem Duursma and Harley Reid again the standouts.

This young West Coast side don’t have too much to play for outside of pride and for this reason we’re thinking a cricket score is on the cards.

West Coast Eagles vs Brisbane Lions Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

On paper this looks like a mismatch, and in most respects, it probably is.

Brisbane's midfield mix of Neale, the Ashcroft brothers and Hugh McCluggage dwarfs anything West Coast can currently roll out, and the Lions have won their past seven meetings with the Eagles, including a 94-75 win in Round two last year. Add in the fact Oscar Allen is poised to face his old side for the first time since crossing to Brisbane as a free agent, and the emotional subplots write themselves.

But West Coast at home have become a genuinely uncomfortable out for good sides this year, and if Brisbane arrive with any hint of complacency after five straight winning weeks, a sold-out Optus Stadium crowd will smell blood.

We're backing the Lions to get the job done, without expecting the kind of blowout their form line might suggest.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Lions by twenty-seven points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

It's genuinely a coin flip between two red-hot Brisbane forwards here and we can see the case for either.

Logan Morris has been the form forward in the competition, his tally of forty-one goals this season keeping him firmly in Coleman Medal calculations and well clear of teammate Charlie Cameron.

Cameron, though, has an uncanny habit of getting Brisbane off the mark early and few small forwards read the opening minutes of a contest better than he does.

We're leaning toward Cameron's early instincts winning out against a West Coast defence still finding their feet, but don't be shocked if Morris beats him to it.

Betting tip: Charlie Cameron.

Most Disposals Prediction

Lachie Neale has hit a rich vein of form at the perfect time, averaging over thirty disposals a game this season with his contract situation adding extra motivation to show what he's still worth.

Against an inexperienced West Coast midfield, we expect him to have the run of the park.

Betting tip: Lachie Neale.
