AFL Tips and Predictions - Round 19 2026

14/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Round 18 had a bit of everything, with a few contenders seemingly falling off the premiership perch (looking at you, Geelong) while others found their groove right back in a hurry, Fremantle, Adelaide and Hawthorn among them.

For The Huddle faithful, Jordy De Goey and Luke Parker did the business in a neat little same-game multi, Dylan Moore was our value play of the weekend with a brace of goals, and Izak Rankine went big.

The Lions' feast was a feast for us too, though Essendon fans mightn't agree, as Zac Bailey racked up twenty-three touches and a pair of goals to see the weekend out in style.

Round 19 is already knocking on the door, and this week we get the full slate: all eighteen clubs in action with no byes to worry about.

Geelong Cats vs St Kilda Saints

Thursday, July 16, 2026, 7:30pm AEST - GMHBA Stadium, Geelong

Geelong were cruising against GWS last week, with Jeremy Cameron finding joy in a new off-half role, Tanner Bruhn busy around the contest and Jack Henry doing his job up forward.

Then it all came undone within the hour. Cameron went down with a shoulder injury, Bruhn copped an internal knock and Henry was already done from half-time. GWS smelled blood and turned on the afterburners, booting seven goals in the final term to run right over the top of the Cats.

Geelong arrive home to face St Kilda without Cameron and precious little form to lean on, while the Saints should be brimming with confidence after a couple of promising weeks.

Brad Hill is playing career-best footy off half-back and Rowan Marshall is thriving back in his rightful home as number one ruck.

St Kilda may never get a better shot at winning at GMHBA Stadium, and doing so would put Wildcard Weekend well within reach.

Head-to-head prediction: St Kilda Saints by ten points.

Betting tip: Rowan Marshall eighteen-plus disposals and Max Holmes twenty-eight-plus disposals.

Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows

Friday, July 17, 2026, 7:40pm AEST - SCG, Sydney

The last time Adelaide rolled into the SCG, they walked out with a 90-point win. There's next to no chance of a repeat here, but it's an interesting bit of recent history given where both clubs sit now.

Back then, the Swans were staring down a finals miss. These days they're chasing a top-two finish and an inside run at another Grand Final appearance.

Sydney had Fremantle exactly where they wanted them for most of last Thursday's clash before a Purple Procession took hold, leaving the Swans with the seven lowest-rated players on the ground in the final term.

Adelaide will roll into Sydney with some belief behind them, but the Swans back on home soil off a decent rest should prove too strong. Any further hiccups and the questions about Sydney's premiership credentials will only get louder.

Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Swans by eighteen points.

Betting tip: Isaac Heeney two-plus goals.

Port Adelaide Power vs Fremantle Dockers

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 1:15pm AEST - Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

Port Adelaide's season looked to be unravelling a few weeks back, but they've hung tough since. That resolve is about to be tested in the harshest way possible.

A nasty injury to Zak Butters joins a suspension for Jason Horne-Francis and a concussion to spearhead Mitch Georgiades. For a side that leans so heavily on its best performers, there's no easy way to paper over that many gaps at once.

Reality is, even a half-asleep Fremantle should have more than enough to get the job done here, and we wouldn't put it past the Dockers to turn up firing regardless.

Head-to-head prediction: Fremantle Dockers by forty-one points.

Betting tip: Fremantle Dockers 1-39.

North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Melbourne Demons

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 4:15pm AEST - Marvel Stadium, Melbourne

This one sparks some interest with Marvel Stadium perhaps tilting things in the Roos' favour.

Melbourne have gone from surprise packet to genuine finals contender this season, and Jacob Van Rooyen's emergence has tracked perfectly with the club's overall growth.

As for North Melbourne? So close yet so far the past fortnight. Maybe that's just where they sit in their rebuild, still working through the growing pains on the way to becoming a genuinely good side in the years ahead.

It's hard to look past what Melbourne have built this season, so despite the home-ground factor at Marvel, we're siding with the Demons.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Demons by fourteen points.

Betting tip: Melbourne Demons 1-39.

Collingwood Magpies vs Carlton Blues

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 7:35pm AEST - MCG, Melbourne

This shapes as an absolute cracker and quite possibly one we'll see again come Wildcard Weekend.

Daicos, De Goey, Pendlebury and new tagging weapon Ed Allan go up against Cripps, Walsh, Jagga Smith, big Harry McKay and Nic Newman down back.

The names might not blow the roof off on paper, but 80,000-plus packed into Footies’ Mecca, chasing glory and bragging rights will do exactly that.

The Magpies have rediscovered some of their attacking zip, with the half-back slingshot scoring returning to the fold and that's precisely where they can carve Carlton up if the Blues turn the footy over.

For Carlton, winning the job at stoppage and playing a genuine front-half game will be crucial and expect a heavy focus on curbing Nick Daicos all afternoon.

Head-to-head prediction: Carlton Blues by three points.

Betting tip: Patrick Cripps under twenty-five and a half disposals.

West Coast Eagles vs Brisbane Lions

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 8:10pm AEST - Optus Stadium, Perth

These Eagles are a far cry from the easy beats we've grown used to over the past five seasons.

The Bulldogs found that out the hard way last week, trailing at halftime before needing genuine superstardom from Aaron Naughton and Marcus Bontempelli just to get over the line.

Brisbane, on the other hand, have been playing finals footy for years now, and we like them to keep it going as they chase down the three-peat heroics of the famous 2001-2003 Lions dynasty.

Should Brisbane show any hint of complacency, expect a sold-out West Coast crowd of 55,000 to roar this improving young side over the line.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Lions by twenty-seven points.

Betting tip: Brisbane Lions 1-39.

Richmond Tigers vs Hawthorn Hawks

Sunday, July 19, 2026, 1:10pm AEST - MCG, Melbourne

The Tigers are chasing the finish line, but truth be told, their season never really got out of the blocks.

Injuries, patchy form and a game plan still finding its feet have plagued Richmond all year long.

The Hawks, meanwhile, needed last week's response after the Tasmania debacle, and Will Day led the way as Hawthorn's deep well of talent followed his lead.

With the right intent, expect the Hawks to do some real damage in this one.

Head-to-head prediction: Hawthorn Hawks by seventy-seven points.

Betting tip: Hawthorn Hawks minus fifty and a half.

Gold Coast Suns vs Western Bulldogs

Sunday, July 19, 2026, 3:15pm AEST - People First Stadium, Gold Coast

Have the Suns got anything left in the tank? Damien Hardwick isn't so sure, and there's a growing sense that 2027 might be the real crack at it.

We're not ready to give up on Gold Coast just yet though. They're younger than most realise, fielding the second-youngest side in the competition last week, and there's real value in that kind of experience heading into next year and beyond.

The Bulldogs haven't thrown in the towel either, but they're just not quite in the class of the competition's true heavyweights right now. Their star power is undeniable, but the scoring isn't flowing as freely as it once did, and they're leaking too many goals to opposition marking forwards.

Head-to-head prediction: Gold Coast Suns by ten points.

Betting tip: Bodhi Uwland twenty-five-plus disposals.

Essendon Bombers vs GWS Giants

Sunday, July 19, 2026, 4:40pm AEST - Marvel Stadium, Melbourne

What else is there left to say about Essendon? The pressure is minimal, the ball winners aren't winning enough of it, and there's plenty of uncertainty swirling behind the scenes.

GWS need to shut all of that down quickly and carry last week's emotional high straight into another dominant four-point haul.

Expect big afternoons from the likes of Greene, Callaghan, Himmelberg and Fonti as the Giants look to make it a comfortable one at Marvel.

Head-to-head prediction: GWS Giants by forty-one points.

Betting tip: Finn Callaghan thirty-three-plus disposals.
