Richmond Tigers vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction - Round 19 2026
17/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & PredictionsSunday arvo of Round 19 sees a modern Tigers great in Dion Prestia bring up a milestone 250th match, as the Tigers host Hawthorn Hawks at the MCG.
It's fair to say Richmond's season never really got out of the blocks. Injuries, patchy form and a game plan still finding its shape have plagued the Tigers all year and last week's 111-65 hiding at the hands of Melbourne extended the losing streak to six.
There is a genuine silver lining on the horizon, though, with prized number one draft pick Sam Lalor named to make a long-awaited return from an Achilles injury that has kept him out since Round seven.
Hawthorn will arrive in a mood after decimating the Blues 103-39 in the rain, with Jack Ginnivan unstoppable in front of the goal.
The Hawks will fancy doing some serious damage against a Richmond side that has lost their last thirteen matches against top-eight opposition. Hawthorn will have their sights set on a run deep into the finals in 2026 and they can probably get away with looking right past the hapless Tigers.
Getting pumped by 50+ at home by an arch-rival, not the ideal way for Prestia to be celebrating his 250th, but it's looking all but inevitable at this point.

Richmond Tigers vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
Richmond are chasing the finish line more than they are chasing four points, but that doesn't mean this is a foregone conclusion.
Fifteen of the Tigers' last eighteen home matches have gone under the total points line, and a ground they know intimately, plus the emotion of Prestia's milestone and a potential Lalor return, could make this scrappier than the ladder positions suggest. Hawthorn, though, arrive with the game plan and depth to match, having fielded more players than any other club across the past six weeks without missing a beat.
With the right intent from the opening bounce, we can see the Hawks doing real damage here.
Head-to-head prediction: Hawthorn Hawks by 77+ points.
First Goal Scorer Prediction
Hawthorn's forward stocks are as deep as any in the competition and the race to catch Coleman Medal pace-setter Charlie Curnow has two Hawks in the frame; Jack Gunston and Nick Watson both building serious tallies of their own this season.
Watson faces a fitness test on a hamstring niggle but is expected to take his place, while Gunners is still tearing up inside and indeed outside 50.
It's a flip of the coin between Gunners and the Wizard to see who gets first blood, but we’ll lean towards the tried-and-true Jack Gunston.
Betting tip: Jack Gunston.
Most Disposals Prediction
Jai Newcombe has been a genuine contender for Hawthorn's best all season and he'll be keen to make a statement after being managed with a tight calf in last week's rout of Carlton.
Fully fit again against opponents he's dominated before, we expect Newcombe to have the ball in his hands early and often.’
Betting tip: Jai Newcombe.
