North Melbourne vs Melbourne Prediction - Round 19 2026

16/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

North Melbourne’s wildcard hopes are on life support after back-to-back losses see them at 13th on the ladder, desperate for a win to spark them into life.

With this in mind, the Roos host an inspired Melbourne Demons outfit at Marvel Stadium for Round 19 of the AFL Season.

Last week, the Roos again found themselves in a winnable position late, before falling 89-85 to Collingwood at Marvel Stadium last Friday.

Another forgettable night for skipper Nick Larkey who was spraying them left right and centre in front of goal, with the match on the line.

Meanwhile, the Demons cruised to a 111 - 65 victory over the Tigers on Sunday, making it four wins from their past five matches to remain tied on premiership points with Adelaide and Brisbane entering Round 19 in the race for a top-four finish.

The sides split their two meetings last season, although Melbourne has won seven of the past eight encounters overall.

North Melbourne need a win to stay in touch with the 10, but these Dees are a tough task in 2026 and won’t be going down easily.

North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Melbourne Demons Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

This one sparks some interest with Marvel Stadium perhaps tilting things in the Roos' favour.

Melbourne have gone from surprise packet to genuine finals contender this season, and Jacob van Rooyen's emergence has tracked perfectly with the club's overall growth.

As for North Melbourne? So close yet so far the past fortnight. Maybe that's just where they sit in their rebuild, still working through the growing pains on the way to becoming a genuinely good side in the years ahead.

It's hard to look past what Melbourne have built this season, so despite the home-ground factor at Marvel, we're siding with the Demons.

Head-to-head prediction: Melbourne Demons by 14 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Jacob van Rooyen has been booting goals at will lately, kicking five and six goals across his past two outings.

Roo is looking like an elite player in 2026 and with Melbourne's midfield likely to win first use of the footy through big Maxxy Gawn, we’re seeing Van Rooyen as the man to open the scoring.

Betting tip: Jacob van Rooyen.

Most Disposals Prediction

Jake Bowey has quietly become one of the most reliable ball-users in this Melbourne side, sitting deep in defence but constantly finding his way forward when the Dees are on the front foot.

With the Demons expected to control field position for long periods, expect Bowey to move up the field once again to rack up the involvements.

Betting tip: Jake Bowey.
