Essendon Bombers vs GWS Giants Prediction - Round 19 2026
17/07/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & PredictionsGWS travel to Marvel Stadium to face the competition easy beats, Essendon to close out Round 19 of the AFL Season.
The Giants’ stocks are rising after big wins over competition heavyweights Fremantle and Geelong; but a slow start to the season sees them sitting just outside of wildcard contention in 11th spot.
But their guns are all firing at the right time for them to make a push, Toby Greene, Lachie Ash, Jake Stringer and Kieren Briggs are among the stars who’ve found form in the back-half of the season.
Essendon, meanwhile, has precious little to hang its hat on. Season 2026 has been nothing short of a disaster for Essendon and the Bombers were smashed again last week 149-59 by Brisbane.
That loss marked their 12th consecutive defeat that has left caretaker coach Dean Solomon still searching for his first win at the helm.
At this rate they may even need a caretaker coach to take over from their caretaker coach.
If you’ve watched any footy this year you’ll know that the Dons are all but certain to get smoked again in this one; hopefully they can show some fight for their home fans.

Essendon Bombers vs GWS Giants Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
What else is there left to say about Essendon? The pressure has all but evaporated, the ball winners aren't winning enough of it and there's no shortage of uncertainty hanging over the club.
GWS need to shut all that talk down quickly and carry last week's emotional high straight into another four-point haul.
Expect big afternoons from the likes of Toby Greene, Finn Callaghan, Harry Himmelberg and Joe Fonti as the Giants look to make this a comfortable one at Marvel Stadium.
Might be some good value on anytime goal scorer markets for a few of these Giants forwards; we know they can rack up the points if they get a roll on.
Head-to-head prediction: GWS Giants by 41 points.
First Goal Scorer Prediction
We like Jake Stringer to get the Giants moving here. They don't call him "The Package" for nothing and he's shown no signs of slowing down at 32.
Expect Stringer to be busy early and often, with his form a genuine must if GWS want to keep their finals push alive through the back half of 2026.
Betting tip: Jake Stringer.
Most Disposals Prediction
Toby Greene was well below his best to the year, but the skipper has caught fire in recent weeks.
GWS will need that trend to continue if they're to be a chance of doing anything in finals football.
Greene has a track record of feasting on lower-ranked opposition, and Essendon are about as generous as it gets in the AFL right now.
Betting tip: Toby Greene.
