Only a handful of horses have won the Hobartville first up in the last 20 years. Two of them (Press Statement and The Autumn Sun) were trained by Chris Waller and he aims up with AUTUMN BOY here to follow in his dad's footsteps. Blinkers went on after his surging second first up in the spring which culminated in a Caulfield Guineas win. They come off now, but if he brings his rating from that Ming Dynasty second to stablemate Sixties (good form) then I think he is the one to beat. SHANGRI LA BOY might lead this for a long way, surely he's improved on what he did in that (very good) first campaign. His Spring Champion conqueror ATTICA has been trialling without the blinkers, faces a task from gate? NINJA and NAPOLEONIC are obvious chances.
