COOL 'N' FAST (1) has been thereabouts in the North Island, and finished third as the favourite at Tauherenikau just over 3 weeks ago. He has needed time to mature, and he should find the company in the South Island more to his liking. He cops a wide gate, but with the right run, he can take this out. PATSY SPIRIT (11) has not had much luck since racing in the South Island, and battled hard for his fourth at Reefton 17 days ago. He has lucked out here with his barrier draw, but is still an each-way chance at value. LIFE OF RILEY (13) won her maiden earlier in the season on a heavy track at Arawa Park, and after 3 more starts, she has relocated to the South Island to join the astute Terri Rae stable. She has to overcome a wide gate, but did win a recent Ashburton trial, so don't risk her. PURE ARTIST (7) is nearing his peak fitness, and BLUSHING (12) is still improving, so include both into any top 4 combinations in an even field.
