EL VENCEDOR (1) failed to fire as the favourite in the G1 Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie nearly a month ago. He sat off the pace that day and didn't quicken when asked. He is perfectly placed under the race conditions with only 59kg to carry, and with a positive ride early on to find the front, he should be too good here. BRIDAL TRAIN (9) made it 2 wins from 3 starts this prep when scoring by 3 lengths at Otaki just over 4 weeks ago. She has won twice here on her home track, and with a kilo less to carry this time, she should be the main danger to the top pick, if there is to be one. THE ODYSSEY (4) has been racing well over 2400m in his last couple of starts, and should he strike a heavy track here, he could just be too tough. Each way value. WHAT YOU WISH FOR (3) made a welcome return to form when charging home to score an easy win in the Taupo Cup last time out. A repeat effort would see him in the top 4 here.
