INTOXICATED (7) will be backing up quickly from a last start sixth at Te Rapa 5 days ago. That could be the key to him finding some decent form again, and in a field that has been decimated by scratchings, he is the one to beat. PERSPECTIVE (5) ran on very strongly late here 5 weeks ago in his best performance yet this season. The step up from 1600m to 2000m is what he has been looking for, and with the aid of a 3kg claim, he will go close to taking this out. TARZADOR (11) won't lack fitness, and her effort for sixth over a mile at Ruakaka was not too bad over a trip that is short of her best. Stick with her back over a middle distance. Each way. ZACABASSO (10) has been a touch plain in 2 starts since winning her maiden comfortably at Tauranga in November, but Craig Grylls picks up the ride, and that is a good lead in itself. Don't risk her. ORANGE RIVER (13) has a chance now after all the scratchings. Include to be safe.
