TIKKI (2) tried her best on an unsuitable heavy track at Riccarton 3 weeks ago, finishing fifth in the Listed Timaru Stakes. This is easier, and on a firmer surface, she is the one to beat. MISS MIRANDA (5) is a very progressive but lightly tried 6-year-old mare who has had her racing well spaced out. She was put aside after winning here in December, and even without a public trial, she will be ready to rumble. HENRY HUBBER (6) fought on gamely for fourth after having a tough trip here just over 3 weeks ago. Dropping back from 1400m to 1200m is not a problem for this gelding, and he is ready to break his win drought. TOMASINA (3) has a strong record on this track and is at her best with some cut in the ground. With conditions to suit, she is always a top 4 chance in fields like this. THE GOOD SHEPHERD (1) is still building his fitness levels, and he is now ready fourth up from a spell to race up to his true ability. Don't risk him.
