LANI AKEA (5) gets the nod with the most upside after starting favourite on debut over 2000m at this track and finishing sixth, beaten just under three lengths by Glorious Smile. He did not finish it off there, but the margin was small enough to suggest he can sharpen second-up. HEART NOTE (9) is the more exposed winning threat, having placed at both Hanshin starts, and being pipped late as a dominant odds-on favourite last time keeps her firmly in the argument. MEINER RICHARD (2) improved to run third at this track last start, beaten a length and a half, and his 1800m placing gives him a solid each-way platform. COSMO BALMUNG (4) was beaten a nose by Mont Saint La Page at this venue three weeks ago, though his one placing from four tries around 1800m leaves a small reservation despite that latest near miss.
