PACIFIC DIAMOND (3) has the clearest recent form, having run second at this track in successive 1600m races and beaten two and a half lengths by Northern Alliance on both occasions. He has been consistently respected in betting, is proven around 1775m and his record with C C Wong adds another solid plank to the case. STRONG WHITE (1) is the main danger off a one-week turnaround after finishing fourth to Wiseman over 1600m as a well-supported favourite. The 59kg is a genuine impost, but his one win and two places from five starts at this track and distance make him well suited. ROOK'S GAMBIT (6) has not been far enough into his races at the last two, yet he owns a win from three attempts at this track and distance and gets his winning rider back. STORM DEITY (8) has to rebound from a heavy defeat, but he has won in the past 12 months and has enough 1775m background to be considered for a minor role.
