Smart filly ARAFURA (1) was beaten as a hot favourite last start but the effort was still good and it continued a string of top-two finishes. Impressive winner of the NZ Oaks at Addington prior and the ace draw gives her every chance to return to the winners list. CAPTAINS MISTRESS (2) showed improvement when fourth to Arafura in the Oaks 'last start. She is three from three when third-up so should be peaking now and has yet to miss a place in four tries at the distance, winning twice. Draws well so could turn the tables. FRANCENT (11) draws on the back row but her form is impossible to knock, landing a winning hat trick when finishing over the top of Arafura last time. Won her lone try at this longer distance. Could do it again. ESMERALDA (10) has put two wins together, coming from this row to score at Listed level two back. Must rate highly again.
