BELLE ALCHERA (8) is going well, working but sticking on for a minor placing two starts ago at Wagga before breaking but recovering for third as favourite last time out at Canberra. Still learning and may need a touch of luck from this draw but could be ready to deliver. SPARTAN SHIELD (6) produced a better effort last time out at the second run of the campaign when runner-up at this venue, beaten a head after leading. Draws wider but can progress further. Primary contender. CALI MAE (1) hasn't raced since a midfield finish on debut four-and-a-half months ago at Leeton. Readied with a nice trial and draws to advantage. THE BURRUM FOX (4) was well beaten last week but draws lower and there was merit in the debut placing at Young.
