Tete Yengi Bio

Tete Yengi is an Australian striker known for his imposing size, athleticism and direct attacking style. 

Born on 28 November 2000 in Adelaide, South Australia, Yengi developed through the South Australian pathway before moving into senior football with Adelaide Comets and later earning professional opportunities in Australia and Europe. 

Standing at 1.97m, he offers a major physical presence up front, while also bringing mobility and vertical threat in transition. 

His career has taken him from the A-League Men to England, Finland, Scotland and Japan, reflecting a path shaped by persistence and adaptability. 

After spells with Newcastle Jets, Ipswich Town and multiple loans, Yengi gained traction with Livingston and later joined Machida Zelvia on loan, where he continued to develop in a different football environment. 

At international level, he has also worked his way into the Socceroos picture, giving Australia another powerful option in attack for the 2026 World Cup. 

Tete Yengi Club Career

Yengi began his development in South Australia, progressing through SA NTC, Croydon Kings and Adelaide Comets. 

He made his senior breakthrough with Adelaide Comets, where he played semi-professional football and built a reputation as an athletic and difficult striker to handle.

In December 2020, he signed with Newcastle Jets and made nine A-League Men appearances during the 2020–21 season. 

From there, he moved to England with Ipswich Town in 2021, initially joining the club’s development setup. 

Although he did not break into Ipswich’s senior league side, his time there led to valuable loan moves that helped his growth.

A 2022 loan spell with VPS in Finland was especially productive, as he scored seven league goals and provided eleven assists in the Veikkausliiga, earning the club’s Player of the Year award. 

He later had further loan experiences with Northampton Town and KuPS, continuing to gain first-team exposure across different leagues and systems.

In January 2024, Yengi joined Livingston on a permanent deal. He made an immediate impact in Scotland, scoring important goals in the Premiership and cup competitions. 

During the 2024–25 campaign, he played 42 matches in all competitions and scored 10 goals, including goals in the Scottish Challenge Cup final and the Premiership play-off final as Livingston secured promotion.

In January 2026, Yengi moved on loan to J1 League side Machida Zelvia through to 30 June 2026, with an option to buy. 

His spell in Japan has included league, domestic cup and AFC Champions League involvement. 

Across all competitions in 2026, he has made 44 appearances, scored 8 goals and added 1 assist, including 3 league goals in 15 J1 appearances.
