Socceroos Add Ten More Players to World Cup Squad – Green and Gold News Summary:

- Ten new players have been added to the Socceroos train-on squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 pre-camp in Sarasota, Florida.

- Daniel Bennie (QPR) and Raphael Borges Rodrigues (Wigan Athletic) earn their maiden Socceroos call-ups under coach Tony Popovic.

- Australia kick off their World Cup campaign against Türkiye in Vancouver on June 13, before facing the USA and Paraguay.

Fresh Faces Join the Green and Gold

A-League duo Aziz Behich and Patrick Beach (both Melbourne City) have linked up with seven UK-based stars and Netherlands-based Ajdin Hrustic (Heracles Almelo) for the trip stateside.

The UK contingent making the journey includes:

Cameron Burgess (Swansea City)

Mohamed Toure (Norwich City)

Nestory Irankunda (Watford)

Daniel Bennie (QPR)

Raphael Borges Rodrigues (Wigan Athletic)

Alex Robertson (Cardiff City)

Joe Gauci (Port Vale)

Australian youth internationals Bennie and Borges Rodrigues will be hoping to make a strong first impression as they collect their first senior Socceroos call-ups.

Building the World Cup Squad

The latest arrivals join the eight players who touched down in Sarasota last week, including: Harry Souttar (Leicester City), Hayden Matthews (Portsmouth), Anthony Caceres and Mitch Duke (both Macarthur FC), Brandon Borrello (Western Sydney), Nick D'Agostino (Brisbane Roar), Nishan Velupillay (Melbourne Victory) and Mathew Leckie (Melbourne City).

Popovic and his coaching staff are using the Sarasota camp to run the rule over an extended player pool, with more names expected to be added to the train-on squad in the coming weeks.

The final FIFA World Cup 2026 squad – up to 26 players – must be submitted to FIFA by June 1.

Road to Group D

The Socceroos will relocate from Sarasota to Los Angeles on May 28, ahead of a marquee friendly against tournament co-hosts Mexico at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena on May 30.

Oakland, California, will then serve as the team's official Base Camp during the tournament, with the Oakland Roots Sports Club on Bay Farm Island the chosen training site.

Drawn in Group D, Australia open their World Cup campaign against Türkiye at BC Place in Vancouver on June 13 (June 14 AEST), before clashing with co-hosts the United States in Seattle on June 19, and rounding out the group stage against Paraguay at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara on June 25.
