Colombia vs Portugal

Colombia enter their Group K match as the only team from the group to have qualified for the next stage of the competition. Portugal look likely to join them, but Roberto Martinez’s side will need to put in a positive performance if they are to do so.

The South Americans have two wins from their two games so far, having beaten Uzbekistan (3-1) and DR Congo (1-0).

Portugal, meanwhile, have four points, having drawn with DR Congo (1-1), before finding their feet and rhythm against Uzbekistan with an emphatic 5-0 victory.

To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature!

How does Super Sub work? Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.

For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!

Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.

Colombia vs Portugal prediction

The early moneyline odds favour Portugal, perhaps due to the star power they have up top and how they managed to start firing in their previous game against Uzbekistan. As our Colombia vs Portugal betting odds page shows, the markets see them as the side to beat.

However, it’s important that Colombia aren’t underestimated – and we’re going down a different route.

The South Americans won seven of their last eight Group Stage matches. They’ve also been solid this time around and have made life difficult for the nations that they’ve faced.

Portugal is a very different type of beast compared to those Colombia have already faced. And while their recent victory showed they can compete when their backs are against the wall, even when it's against teams they should beat comfortably on paper, Portugal have dropped points already.

Our prediction is draw

For the bigger picture, the World Cup betting markets are worth a browse, and since Ronaldo's still chasing silverware, have a look at the players with the most trophies in football history before you settle on this one.

Colombia vs Portugal score prediction

The goals market is going to be an interesting one in this fixture. The value is perhaps with the ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ line, as it has hit during regulation time in four of Colombia's last five tournament matches against UEFA teams outside of its own region.

However, the ‘Over’ in the same market has better value given the quality that will be on the pitch. With Ronaldo having started his personal tally, becoming the only player to have scored at six World Cups, it’ll likely be another chance for him to try and catch up to Messi, Mbappe and Haaland, who have already started quickly.

Portugal have too many talented players not to find the back of the net, although Colombia can be resolute with their defending. At the same time, they also have plenty of attacking options that make them a huge threat, which is why we think there could be goals in this game.

That said, the BTTS hitting has better value than it does not. Although the 'Both Teams to Score' market has failed to hit in each of Colombia's last four tournament Group Stage matches against UEFA teams outside of its own region, there’s too much attacking quality on both sides not to think the value is in this market hitting.

Our score prediction is a 2-2 draw, as both try to top the group.

If you fancy backing both these heavyweights on the one ticket, it's worth knowing what a multi bet actually involves first, and with Ronaldo in the mix you might enjoy a squiz at the all-time leading goalscorers before kickoff.

Player markets to watch

Cristiano Ronaldo is an obvious player to watch in this match, especially after he scored two goals against Uzbekistan. The 41-year-old star had a slow and challenging game against the DR Congo, but he started quickly and looked like a real handful in his most recent match.

Knowing that a win would help them seal Group K as winners, CR7 is likely to play an influential role once again as an anytime goalscorer. With him key, the first goalscorer market has the better value.

Bruno Fernandes will be key in helping him to have opportunities, which is why value in the ‘To Score or Assist’ market, having provided an assist in the game against Uzbekistan.

Luis Diaz is arguably the biggest threat that Colombia have going forward, and he could enjoy himself against Portugal, as he may find space behind the wing-backs. As an anytime goalscorer, he has value, but the safer value might be in the ‘To Score or Assist’ market.
