Brazil are the most successful team in the competition’s history; Morocco will enter as likely favourites to advance from Group C.
We’ll preview the opening clash of this group and provide you with everything to look out for ahead of kick-off. Also, do not forget to check the latest Brazil vs Morocco betting odds if you are considering placing a bet on this game.
To celebrate the momentous occasion that is the World Cup, Sportsbet is bringing back its exclusive Super Sub feature! How does Super Sub work?
Well, it’s very simple. Place a bet on select player markets throughout the 2026 Men’s World Cup and if that player is subbed off your bet rolls over to the new player that replaced them.
For example, if you’ve bet on Kylian Mbappe to score during one of France’s matches and during that match he fails to do so and is directly substituted for Jean-Philippe Mateta who ends up scoring instead, your original bet on Mbappe is paid as a winner!
Super Sub is not exclusive to goalscoring markets either, it also applies to anytime assist, player to win one or more fouls, shots on target and more, just make sure to read all the T&Cs before locking in your bet.
Brazil vs Morocco prediction
Our prediction is that Brazil will be the likely winners of this Group C matchup. The Selecao have an incredible record in the Group Stage, having won 29 of their last 36 matches.
Brazil were the victors when the tournament was last held in the US, and they’ll enter this competition in positive form.
Brazil will have a wealth of quality players to call upon for the tournament, with some stars having been excluded because of the depth they have. Still, the South Americans didn’t have the best of qualification campaigns, but they have a natural winner at the helm in Carlo Ancelotti.
Arguably, the only thing missing from his resume is this title, having won everything he possibly could at club level. His tenure so far hasn’t been all positive, but it has largely been. He heads into the tournament with a 58.33% win rate, having won seven of his 12 games. In his career, he is just a shade under 60%.
Morocco will be looking to challenge, but will know they can use the fixtures against Scotland and Haiti to help them advance if they need points. Still, there’ll be an air of confidence about
Mohamed Ouahbi’s side, as they deserve to be in the tournament.
They have their own qualities throughout their squad, but it’s not a shock to see Brazil as the pre-match favourites and by some margin in a tournament they’ve dominated, albeit not recently.
Brazil vs Morocco score prediction
There’s plenty of value worth exploring in the goal markets for this game, especially as both teams have significant star quality.
The Brazil 2-0 Correct Score market perhaps offers the most value, as they have won three of their last five tournament Group Stage matches by a scoreline of 2-0. However, since Ancelotti took charge, he has had only one 2-0 victory (a friendly against Senegal).
What may be more interesting is the Brazil in the ‘Win to Nil’ market. Since Ancelotti’s arrival, Selecao have kept five clean sheets out of the 12 matches, with four wins and one draw.
They’ve scored in 10 games, with goals in the last eight straight. However, Brazil have only kept two clean sheets in that span, suggesting there’s value in the BTTS hitting.
Despite winning four of their last five Group Stage matches to nil, the Brazil to win 2-1 offers better value.
Morocco don’t give goals up easily; they conceded just twice in qualifying. They conceded one in AFCON before winning it (controversially). Across five friendlies, they’ve conceded in three (one each time). Brazil should be a different type of beast, but Morocco’s defence often stands firm.
Brazil to win 2-1 is our prediction.
Brazil vs Morocco head-to-head record
Brazil and Morocco have met two times, and the head-to-head is level: each side has won once, with no draws.
Their only World Cup meeting came in 1998, when Brazil ran out 3-0 winners. Later on, Morocco squared the ledger with a 2-1 win in a friendly match in 2023.
Player markets to watch
With Brazil, it’s hard to look at a single player when the entire team has superstars available to them. However, one name that has dominated the headlines since being called into the fold is Neymar Jr.
At 34, it’s highly likely that it will be his final appearance at the tournament, and he’ll be looking to do the one thing he hasn’t done that Lionel Messi did last time: win the tournament and complete his resume, helping Ancelotti to do the exact same thing.
He comes into the team in decent goalscoring form, having scored three in his last five appearances.
He will be coming into this game off the back of an injury, so may have a limited cameo, but that could still be enough time for him to try and quieten his critics and get his tournament started on the right foot. He has played in 13 games in the competition, scoring 8 goals.
But perhaps going under the radar a little ,given the superstars like Neymar, Vinicius Jr., Raphinha, and the emerging Endrick after a good loan spell, Igor Thiago could offer value as an anytime goalscorer.
Thiago scored 25 goals across all competitions for Brentford in his debut campaign, taking the Premier League by storm. Only Erling Haaland passed his 22-goal tally.
Since getting the call-up to Brazil, the forward has already scored twice in four friendlies. The question will be whether he can perform on the biggest stage, but his EPL record looks to be a good omen.
Morocco, though, have their own key threats throughout their squad.
Brahim Diaz was the player of AFCON after scoring five goals; Yassine Bounou is an established goalkeeper, while Achraf Hakimi is arguably the best right-back in the world because of his ability to defend and go forward.
Ayoub El Kaabi is a goal threat, as he has four goals in his last six appearances for his country, including a hat-trick. He also has three goals in friendly matches in the lead-up to the tournament.
Diaz scored in a recent friendly against Norway, while Ismael Saibari scored twice against Madagascar to add to the three he had in his last five competitive fixtures.
