World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is the biggest professional wrestling organization on the planet.

Adored by passionate spectators the world over and a pop culture staple, many may not know you can actually wager on the WWE.

But isn’t it fake? So are the hotdogs at your local sporting ground, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome.

Yes, the match outcomes are predetermined, and the results are scripted, but they are closely held secrets.

It is similar to reality television in this sense and therefore exists within the Sports Novelties section of the Sportsbet website and app.

All this doesn’t mean WWE events are packed full of diverse and captivating markets. Sportsbet punters can choose from a number of different markets for upcoming WWE events.

That’s why this WWE betting guide is essential reading for anyone looking to explore the world of wrestling from a punting perspective.

WWE Betting Australia Explained

The WWE is comprised of two main shows - Smackdown and Raw. With each having their own titles and champions.

Within these two shows and within the WWE as a whole, there are a number of different events which have different rules, structures, and competitors.

Understanding the difference between these events and how they work is integral to knowing how to bet on WWE.

Major WWE Events

Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble is an annual event that traditionally happens at the start of each year.

A Royal Rumble traditionally consists of 30 wrestlers who are trying to eliminate one another by way of tossing each other over the top rope and out of the ring.

The last person left in the ring is crowned the winner. The Royal Rumble is one of the WWE’s biggest events of the year.

There is both a men’s and women’s Royal Rumble, with the winner of each receiving the choice of which championship they would like to challenge for at WrestleMania.

WrestleMania

Often referred to as the Super Bowl of wrestling, WrestleMania is the biggest event on the WWE calendar.

It has been running for 40 years and has played host to some of the biggest matchups in wrestling history.

It centres on main event matches, primarily for the men’s and women’s WWE Championship and usually concludes storylines that have been running for the past 12 months.

Elimination Chamber

As the title suggests this is another elimination themed match. Unlike a Royal Rumble, in an Elimination Chamber wrestlers are eliminated by submission or pinfall, not being sent over the ropes. It also takes place in a, you guessed it, chamber.

Money in the Bank

This event centers around a ladder match, where combatants do battle to obtain a briefcase containing a contract for a championship match.

The contract can be cashed in at any time, but trying to grab a briefcase at the top of a ladder while a number of other wrestlers try to do the same is easier said than done. Money in the Bank is always an annual highlight among spectators and punters alike.

SummerSlam

Dubbed “the biggest part of the summer” the WWE’s SummerSlam is their second biggest event of the year behind WrestleMania.

Massive storylines always play out here and there are always plenty of diverse markets for Sportsbet punters to check out.

Survivor Series

Always held around Thanksgiving, the Survivor Series is traditionally characterized by tag-team elimination matches.

Whether the traditional format or the newer “WarGames” style that we have seen in recent years, the Survivor Series is always built around teams of wrestlers facing off against one another.

What WWE Betting Markets are Available on Sportsbet?

Head-to-Head (H2H)

Available for all one-on-one WWE matches. This is a market for those simply looking to pick the winner of the fight.

Most Eliminations

Available during Royal Rumbles and Elimination Chambers, this market allows punters to pick which wrestler will eliminate the most opponents during one of these events.

First Eliminated

Once again applicable to Royal Rumbles and Elimination Chambers, who is going over the ropes or tapping out first? Go here to lock in your choice.

Last Eliminated

So close, yet so far. Who will hold on the longest and be the last to be eliminated in a Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber by the eventual winner?

Royal Rumble Winner

Speaking of the winner, for Royal Rumbles this is where you go to lock in who you think will outlast the other 29 wrestlers and be the last man/woman standing.

Money in the Bank Winner

Who is snatching that case from atop the ladder? Think you know? This market is for you.

Method of Victory

For select matches you can wager on the method of victory. This includes pinfall, submission, disqualification and count out.

First Finishing Move Performed

RKO, Swanton Bomb, 619. Even casual WWE fans would have heard these terms at least peripheral.

Well, these are all finishing or signature moves. Typically, every wrestler has their own signature finishing move.

For select matches you can wager on which finishing move will be performed first, depending on who is wrestling.

How to Bet on the WWE

Step 2: After selecting the event, browse the markets available for it.

Step 3: Select the market(s) you wish to wager on.
