A Quadrella or Quaddie as it’s known in the annals of aussie punting lingo is a type of exotic bet in horse racing that requires a punter to successfully pick the four winners in four consecutive races.

One of the most straightforward exotic bet types, a Quaddie is a great way for new punters to try their luck in the world of exotics.

While picking four consecutive winners is obviously challenging, you can increase your chances of placing a successful Quaddie by selecting multiple runners in each race.

This is a Multiple Quadrella and as with any wager that increases your chance of winning, it comes at cost, paying less than a traditional Quadrella based on how many runners you pick in each race.

How Does a Quaddie Work in Betting?

As with most exotic bets, a Quaddie is a form of parimutuel or pool betting where all bets go into what is commonly referred to as a tote.

In short, the more money in the pot and the more unique the bet, the bigger the returns.

How Do Quaddie Payouts Get Calculated?

As with any tote bet, the amount paid out is dependent on the amount of money in the pool and based on the picks of other punters.

During big races, such as the Melbourne Cup, Quaddie pools can reach eye-watering figures due to the number of wagers being placed. 

There is no right or wrong way to pick a Quaddie, but there is a right and wrong way to spend the winnings, so when your better half isn’t a fan of your new back tattoo of the four winning runners you selected, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

How to Place a Quaddie

Select the meeting and open the race card for the first of the four nominated Quaddie legs.

1. Tap the Quaddie or Early Quaddie tab.
2. Select your runner or runners in each of the four legs using the Add button next to each horse.
3. Choose your unit stake or set a Flexi percentage.
4. Review your combinations and total cost, then confirm the bet.
