With NRLW round 4 on the cards this weekend, it means we're now a month into the new women’s season, but have the contenders established themselves from the pretenders?

Somewhat. Perennial powerhouses like the Broncos and the Roosters are up near the top as expected, but so are surprise packets Parramatta.

Newcastle round out the top four, despite losing arguably the game’s best player in the offseason – Tamika Upton.

In truth though, it’s only the Chooks who have any real breathing room as the only undefeated side left in the land.

Can they be caught and will the logjam directly beneath them start to sort itself out? NRLW round 4 should help bring the overall premiership picture in clearer focus, so let’s dive in.

New Zealand Warriors Women vs Gold Coast Titans Women Prediction

Saturday, July 26, 12:45pm AEST – Go Media Stadium

The Titans got on the board for season 2025 with a gutsy win over the Tigers last week.

The Warriors couldn’t repeat their week 2 heroics and grab another win, but they were brave as they went down to the Knights in a 56-point firefight.

They showed enough against Newcastle to convince us that they’ll be able to win this one, particularly back in NZ.

Also, keep an eye on young winger Payton Takimoana who crossed for a hat-trick last week.

Head-to-head prediction: New Zealand Warriors Women.

Betting tip: Payton Takimoana first try scorer.

Sydney Roosters Women vs Canterbury Bulldogs Women Prediction

Saturday, July 26, 3:15pm AEST – Allianz Stadium

As the only undefeated team left in the NRLW, you won’t find us betting against the Sydney Roosters all that often.

In fact, until they lose a game you find us betting against them at all. After their remarkable 30-26 win away to fellow premiership favourites Brisbane in the Sunshine State, we have no qualms in tipping them to topple the Doggies who went down to the Dragons last week.

Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Roosters Women.

Betting tip: Over total match points.

North Queensland Cowboys Women vs Canberra Raiders Women Prediction

Saturday, July 26, 5:15pm AEST – Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Unfortunately, so far, the Canberra Raiders Women’s side have not been able to replicate their male counterparts in season 2025.

While the boys are sitting top of the pops in the NRL, the girls are having no such luck, sitting dead last with no wins and a points difference of -106. Yikes.

Obviously, this makes them effectively untippable in our eyes right now and as a result, we’ll be taking the Cowboys here who are sitting respectfully in seventh with two wins out of three so far this season.

Head-to-head prediction: North Queensland Cowboys Women.

Betting tip: Big win little – Cowboys 13+

Parramatta Eels Women vs Newcastle Knights Women Prediction

Sunday, July 27, 12:00pm AEST – Eric Tweedale Stadium

This is arguably the match of NRLW round 4. Both the Knights and the Eels have exceeded expectations to start the new season and now they get to meet at Eric Tweedale Stadium.

The Knights were expected to drop off after the aforementioned departure of Tamika Upton, but somehow, they have managed to stay the course without her services.

Meanwhile, the Eels have been nothing short of electric and currently sit in third as a result.

The try scoring exploits of Rory Owen and the lethal boot of Rachael Pearson look like they are going to ensure the points consistently flow for the Blue and Gold this year.

As impressed as we are with the Knights, we’re backing the Eels to record a statement win here and announce themselves to the rest of the competition as genuine premiership threats.

Head-to-head prediction: Parramatta Eels Women.

Betting tip: Rory Owen first try scorer.

St George Illawarra Dragons Women vs Brisbane Broncos Women Prediction

Sunday, July 27, 1:45pm AEST – WIN Stadium

The Broncos will be desperate to bounce back in a big way after their narrow loss to premiership rivals the Roosters last week.

It was only Romy Teitzel’s wayward boot that was the difference for the Broncs, as they actually scored the same amount of tries as the Tri-colours.

Despite the loss, new recruit Tamika Upton showed while they moved heaven and earth to bring her home to Queensland from the Hunter Valley, scoring her side's first two tries.

As impressive as the Dragons were last week, seeing out a classy win over the Bulldogs, there appears to be night and day between the rest of the competition and the Broncos and Roosters.

Head-to-head prediction: Brisbane Broncos Women.

Betting tip: Tamika Upton first try scorer.

Cronulla Sharks Women vs Wests Tigers Women Prediction

Sunday, July 27, 6:15pm AEST – Shark Park

The final game of NRLW round 4 will see Cronulla circle the struggling Tigers at Shark Park.

Along with the Raiders, Wests are the only other side without a win in the NRLW in 2025.

Unfortunately, we don’t see that changing here away to the Sharks, who are far from world beaters themselves, but still should have far too much quality for the toothless Tigers.

Head-to-head prediction: Cronulla Sharks Women.

Betting tip: Under total match points.
