Saturday Racing Tips - 27 June

Caulfield Saturday Race Tips

Track rating Soft 7 on Wednesday. Rail out 3m.

Not much rain around, but cool and overcast is not conducive for drying. The track should be in the soft range. This track has played away from the rail in recent meetings. Expect the same, but watch for the pattern.

Caulfield Racecourse Track Overview

The famous Caulfield racetrack has a 150-year history of providing outstanding racing in Victoria. Known as “The Heath” and home of the iconic Caulfield Cup.

Discover Caulfield race tips, backed by Australia’s leading horse racing experts.

Race 1 (11.50 am AEST) Sportsbert Race Previews Handicap (1000m)

Trial form. Stakes is a fast son of Capitalist who is making his debut at Caulfield. Last week he did it easy in a jump-out at Flemington, and he looks primed for a first-up win. This is a solid winter 2YO race, so back him for the win and place.

Rubare was second behind Stakes in that Flemington trial, but she was eased right down. She resumes from a spell in the smart stable of Nick Ryan. Happy to have something each-way and take her in the exotics.

Racing Tip: Stakes & Rubare (back both).

Race 6 (2.55 pm AEST) 3YO Handicap (1000m)

Trial form, down in class. Farcited comes from Sydney with the right form for a winter 3YO sprint. He hasn’t raced since finishing down the field in the G1 Golden Slipper in March. Before then he ran second in the G3 Black Opal Stakes. Nice trial win at Cranbourne on June 15.

Racing Tip: Farcited (best bet).

Race 7 (3.30 pm AEST) Sportsbet Feed BM78 Handicap (1700m)

Fitter. Somewhere will be better for his good third at Sandown on May 23, over 1400m. Back in December, he sat on the pace and won over 1600m at Flemington. Harry Coffey rides. Bet win and place.

Racing Tip: Somewhere.

Race 9 (4.35 pm AEST) 3YO Trophy Handicap (1620m)

Good second-up. Nimbustwothousand ran excellently first-up at Sandown, when he was heavily backed. Handles the wet and he’s a bomb second-up. Smart stable. Bet each-way.

Racing Tip: Nimbustwothousand.

Rosehill Saturday Race Tips

Track rating Soft 5 on Wednesday. Rail out 6m.

With some rain about, and likely on race day, look for mid-range slow surface.

Rosehill Racecourse Track Overview

The Western Sydney Rosehill Racing Track is another diamond in the rough. Owned and operated by the Australian Turf Club, it’s home to the coveted Golden Slipper Stakes, the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.

This week features the $200k Listed McKell Cup (2000m). Discover Rosehill race tips, backed by Australia’s leading horse racing experts.

Race 4 (12.45 pm AEST) Benchmark 72 (1400m)

Likes it wet. Trainer Bjorn Baker has a healthy opinion of Big Papa who was excellent when winning over 1300m at Rosehill last time out. Wide draw may not worry him.

Racing Tip: Big Papa.

Race 6 (1.55 pm AEST) Stayers Cup (2400m)

Impressive last time, extra trip. King Pedro is crying out for a win. Came home with a big finish last time to just fail. Jumps 2000m to 2400m and this looks his chance to break through.

Racing Tip: King Pedro (best bet).

Race 8 (3.15 pm AEST) McKell Cup (2000m)

Wet tracker, in form. Trainer Chris Waller has a soft spot for this race, having nearly won it with the first horse he brought to Australia from New Zealand, Party Belle, in 1999. God’s Window is in form and a noted wet tracker.

Racing Tip: God’s Window.

Race 9 (3.50 pm AEST) Benchmark 78 (1200m)

Backs up, in form, wet track. Exit Fee backs up from his solid second last Saturday behind Chains Of Love. He’s a winner at Rosehill and he’s a knob in the wet. Bet each-way.

Racing Tip: Exit Fee.

Eagle Farm Saturday Race Tips

Track rated Soft 5 on Wednesday. Rail out 6m.

Not much precipitation is expected to dampen this track. Should improve into the Good range.

Eagle Farm Racecourse Track Overview

Queensland’s Winter Carnival continues at Eagle Farm racecourse. Spacious and fair, Eagle Farm is Brisbane’s premier track. Home of the Brisbane Cup, Queensland Derby and Stradbroke Handicap.

This week features the $700k G1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) for fillies and mares, and the $200k G3 Tattersall’s Cup (2400m). Discover Eagle Farm race tips, backed by Australia’s leading horse racing experts.

Race 1 (11.43 am AEST) 3YO Handicap (1200m)

Down in class. Sword Of Legacy had little luck in Listed company last time. Her previous form was solid and she drops back into a very winnable race.

Racing Tip: Sword Of Legacy (best bet).

Race 3 (12.53 pm AEST) Tattersall’s 2YO Stakes (1400m)

Gear change. Interesting that the Hayes boys have added blinkers on first time to Marffiano. He’s racing well and he’ll find the 1400m and firmer ground to his liking..

Racing Tip: Marffiano.

Race 7 (3.23 pm AEST) Tattersall’s Mile (1600m)

Unlucky last time. Sun God came from a “mile” back to beat all but the in-form War Eternal in the Spear Chief (1500m) on June 6. First track suits, as is the extra distance.

Racing Tip: Sun God.

Race 8 (3.58 pm AEST) Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m)

Firm track, fitter. Within The Law chased home the smart colt Skyhook two weeks ago over this course. That form stacks up. She is fitter and will appreciate the firmer track.

Racing Tip: Within The Law.

Morphettville Parks Saturday Race Tips

Track rated Soft 7 on Wednesday. Rail out 6m 1000m to WP; you 3m the rest.

Clear of rain, but cool, and from Wednesday, the track should improve to a Soft 5.

Morphettville Racecourse Track Overview

South Australia’s home of racing, Morphettville Racing Track, incorporates two tracks in the state capitals' southern suburbs. The main “outside” course is spacious and fair. The Morphettville Parks course is set inside the main track, and can favour horses races on the pace.

This week features the $120k Sportsbet Listed Oaklands Plate (1400m) for two-year-olds. Discover Morphettville Parks race tips, backed by Australia’s leading horse racing experts.

Race 3 (12.42 pm SA time) Benchmark 78 Handicap (1973m)

Promising. Trainer Bevan Laming thought enough of Savour The Dream to run him in the G1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) last year. He bolted in at Mornington (2000m) on June 8. This is a perfect race for him.

Racing Tip: Savour The Dream (best bet).

Race 4 (1.17 pm SA time) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap (1000m)

Track lover, in form. Sir Now is racing in fine form. Easy win at Murray Bridge. His record on the Parks track is four wins and three seconds from seven starts. Big weight but gets 2kg off with the claim.

Racing Tip: Sir Now.

Race 5 (1.57 pm SA time) Sportsbet Oaklands Plate (1400m)

Distance suits. Mountjoy landed some good bets when she charged home late to win the Elvstroem Plate (1300m) at Swan Hill. Will Price rode her then, and he’s on board again. Big each-way play.

Racing Tip: Mountjoy.

Race 6 (2.37 pm SA time) Benchmark 66 (1300m)

Exciting prospect. Royal Sway looks to be a real talent. Easy wins in her past two at Morphettville on slow tracks. She looks to be the best of the day.

Racing Tip: Royal Sway (best bet).

Belmont Saturday Race Tips

Track rated Good 4 on Wednesday. Rail out 3m.

Up to 35mm of rain is predicted on Friday and up to 25mm on Saturday. This track is likely to be heavy.

Belmont Racecourse Track Overview

After summer and autumn racing at Ascot, Perth metropolitan racing moves to nearby Belmont for winter racing. The wide course proper allows for multiple rail positions and the sandy track profile that caters for the winter wet. Belmont is a tightish track of 1699m with a straight of 333m.

Discover Belmont race tips, backed by Australia’s leading horse racing experts.

Race 1 (12.39 pm WA time) 2YO Plate (1000m)

Class factor. Morning Thunder hasn’t raced since his big win on debut at Ascot in February. Unbeaten in his trials.

Racing Tip: Morning Thunder (best bet).

Race 5 (3.15 pm WA time) One Metro Win (1200m)

In form, distance suits. Poblano beat last week’s impressive winner Zourun Run at Belmont on June 6, when she ran on from fifth at the turn. She’s a horse with a bright future.

Racing Tip: Poblano.
