The PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs have been whittled down to a final field of 30, with the TOUR Championship being one of the final events of the season.

The three-event tournament, which started at TPC Southwind, Tennessee, with a field of the 70 best players over the course of the season, will conclude at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, with the first tee scheduled for Friday, August 27 (AEST). Tee times are yet to be released.

Having seen the field be whittled down to 30 following the conclusion of the BMW Championship at the Bellerive Country Club, Missouri, some huge names still remain in contention to win the FedEx Playoff Cup and the TOUR Championship.

With the new format in its second year, anyone remaining is still in with a chance, as the winner of the final event will be the overall winner, with points now reset.

Gary Woodland, Patrick Cantlay and Robert MacIntyre all managed to secure their place inside the top 30 following a solid BMW Championship, while American trio Kurt Kitayama, Rickie Fowler and Bud Cauley all dropped out. Aaron Rai and Justin Thomas were also eliminated.

Adam Scott is the last Aussie remaining in the tournament after finishing on 6-under at the BMW Championship, tied in 16 th . A third round 71 prevented a higher finish.

After looking shaky after failing to record a birdie on the first 15 holes of the final day, Wyndham Clark would make sure he didn’t blow his huge lead entering the final day to claim victory by three strokes over Patrick Cantlay and a further shot over Rory McIlroy.

Scottie Scheffler would finish 7-under and tied in 12th, while Matt Fitzpatrick finished tied 28 on 3-under. Both have qualified after securing enough points over the season.

Betting Markets to Watch

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Scheffler will be perceived as the likely favourite to win the event in the latest golf odds.

He is the world number 1 and East Lake is the type of course that he tends to play well on. It rewards players who can show elite tee-to-green play, controlled iron approaches and the ability to avoid bogeys on a demanding par-70 layout; all things Scheffler does well and has done so throughout 2026.

He finished four strokes behind the eventual winner last year (Tommy Fleetwood) with a score of 14-under (tied 4th), but had won the event in 2024 with a score of 30-under (with the then-used starting-strokes format).

Northern Irish star McIlroy appears to have started to build some steam ahead of the TOUR Championship after a solid performance at the BMW Championship. He was third with a score of 13-under after a disappointing 2-over at the St. Jude and a 66th-placed finish (out of 68).

A long shot is Robert MacIntyre . The Scot has plenty of momentum after securing his place inside the top 30 but finishing inside the top 10 at the BMW Championship (he finished 2nd last year).

He finished third in the Scottish Open in July, so knows how to handle pressure, and with everyone on a level playing field, he could claim victory.

Meanwhile, our outsider at the start of the tournament, Collin Morikawa , remains in contention and in solid form.
