F1 Tips: Mexican Grand Prix

25/10/2024|Ed Wyatt|Formula 1 Tips & Predictions

Mexican Grand Prix

It’s the second race of a triple header this weekend as the F1 teams head to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for the Mexican Grand Prix.

Last week’s stunning Ferrari 1-2 in Austin means the race for both the Drivers and Constructors championships are back on.

Ferrari are now just eight points behind Red Bull (who are 40 behind McLaren) with five races to go.

Max Verstappen, after a strong showing at COTA, has a 57-point lead over second place Lando Norris, with Charles Leclerc 22 behind Lando.

Like the US Grand Prix, Verstappen has won the last three races in Mexico, with Lewis Hamilton finishing second in all three.

In his home Grand Prix, Sergio Perez finished on the podium in 2021 and 2022 but crashed on the first lap last year and failed to finish.

Mexican Grand Prix Betting Tips

Best Bet

Charles Leclerc or Lando Norris or Max Verstappen $3.60 (Outright Betting)

Ok this is a bit of a copout, but in an incredibly even year, with three drivers battling for the Drivers and Constructors titles – and they’re all the same price to win Outright – I say pick your poison.

Next Best

Liam Lawson $3.20 (Points Finish)

In his first race as Daniel Ricciardo’s replacement, the Kiwi drove brilliantly at COTA, finishing 9th and in the points. Can he do the same in Mexico City?

Value Bet

Charles Leclerc $4.00 (Overall Qualification Winner)

Leclerc was on pole in last year’s Mexico City race and Ferrari were the fastest car on the grid last week in Austin. Might be worth a look.

Piastri Bet

Oscar Piastri $2.02 (Podium Finish)

It’s hard to get a read on McLaren after Norris and Piastri finished 4th and 5th respectively in Austin. A Top Six Finish bet probably makes more sense for Piastri, but at $1.16 it’s far too short.
