06/08/2025|SB Staff|Tips & Predictions

The English domestic cricket season is entering its final two months of the year, but one elite competition is about to get underway.

The 2025 One-Day Cup is a tournament that consists of all 18 first-class counties competing in matches featuring 50 overs per side. Matches are played with the white ball and are contested throughout August, with the final in September. Glamorgan are the defending champions, after they defeated Somerset in a rain-affected final last time.

Matches are played across a league format to begin with, with the counties split into two groups. They face each other once in this phase, playing eight matches each. The top team of each group will then qualify automatically for the semi-finals, while teams in second and third place will enter the quarter-finals stage.

The two groups are as follows:

Group A: Derbyshire, Essex, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Surrey, Worcestershire

Group B: Durham, Kent, Lancashire, Middlesex, Northamptonshire, Somerset, Sussex, Warwickshire, Yorkshire

When Is the 2025 One-Day Cup?

The 2025 One-Day Cup will begin with matches taking place on August 5 (Tuesday, 21:00 AEST). A total of 77 matches will be played throughout the event’s duration, with fixtures played on an almost daily basis.

The final fixtures of the group phase will take place on August 26, with the quarter-finals scheduled for August 28. The semi-finals will take place on August 31, with the final scheduled for September 20.

Where Is the 2025 One-Day Cup Held?

The 2025 One-Day Cup will be played across several grounds across England and Wales. The final is scheduled to be held at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

How To Bet On the Cricket 2025 One-Day Cup

It is very easy to bet on the cricket 2025 One-Day Cup this Australian winter, with Sportsbet making it straightforward to follow the action and find all the bets you want to make.

All you need to do is head to the sportsbook section of the site and head to the cricket category. At the same time, Somerset, Lancashire, Surrey, and Nottinghamshire are also considered strong candidates due to a mixture of quality squads and previous successes.

Other teams can be considered as outsiders, with Hampshire, Essex, and Warwickshire also potentially in the running due to their experience and squad depth.
