Errol Spence Jr. is a professional American welterweight and light-middleweight boxer with a 28-1 record and 78.57% KO rate.

Known as “The Truth,” he is a former unified and undisputed welterweight titleholder, having held the IBF, WBC and WBA world titles between 2017 and 2023.

Born in Long Island, New York and raised in Desoto, Texas, the 36-year-old has established himself as one of the standout fighters of his generation with elite wins and a long run at the top of the welterweight division.

Spence built an outstanding amateur foundation before turning professional. He compiled a 135-12 amateur record, won the U.S. National Golden Gloves in 2009, claimed three consecutive U.S. national welterweight championships from 2009 to 2011, and represented the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games, reaching the quarter-finals.

He turned professional in November 2012 and quickly developed a reputation as one of boxing’s most dangerous pressure fighters, combining physical strength, body punching and a sharp southpaw jab.

Spence’s climb through the professional ranks included statement wins over Phil Lo Greco, Chris van Heerden, Alejandro Barrera, Chris Algieri and Leonard Bundu, performances that marked him out as a future world champion.

In May 2017, Spence travelled to Sheffield, England and stopped Kell Brook in the eleventh round to win the IBF World Welterweight title. That victory established him as one of the elite names in the division.

He went on to defend and build his legacy with major wins over Lamont Peterson, Carlos Ocampo, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Yordenis Ugas. 

The Ugas victory in 2022 saw Spence add the WBA title to his IBF and WBC belts, further strengthening his position at the top of the welterweight division.

Spence suffered the only loss of his professional career in July 2023, when he was stopped by Terence Crawford in their undisputed welterweight showdown in Las Vegas.

After an extended period out of the ring, Spence is now set for a high-profile comeback against Tim Tszyu in Sydney, moving toward a new chapter of his career at light-middleweight.
