Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers Prediction
Monday, January 13, 7:30pm AEDT – ENGIE Stadium
The Scorchers have lost their last three on the spin and are in real danger of being hit for four here.
Once thought unfathomable, Perth are in real danger of missing out on the BBL playoffs, something they haven’t done in five years and only managed three times in their entire history.
While the Thunder are in a mini slump of their own, they still sit inside the top four and will be eager to secure their participation in this year’s final series.
They also have young gun Sam Konstas back on deck after his maiden Test series with Australia.
He may have gone for cheap last time he was at the crease for Sydney, but he seems to do that every second game, as is his style.
The 19-year-old is rocks or diamonds personified and with the latest batch of rocks out of the way last start, we’re tipping him to come up diamonds here against the struggling Scorchers.
Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Thunder.
Betting tip: Sam Konstas leading runs scorer.
Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades Prediction
Tuesday, January 14, 7:30pm AEDT – Ninja Stadium
Sitting pretty in second and with one eye on top of the table, the high-flying Hurricanes welcome the last placed Renegades to Tassie on Tuesday.
Their balanced bowling attack has been paying dividends of late as they restricted the Thunder to just 164 in their most recent match.
They were able to easily chase down this target, doing so with 19 balls to spare. This was largely thanks to the explosive exploits of Tim David who finished on 68 not out off 38 rocks.
The 28-year-old smashed six sixes during his spell at the crease and against the cellar dwellers this week, he’ll be hoping for a repeat performance to launch his side to the top of the standings.
Head-to-head prediction: Hobart Hurricanes.
Betting tip: Tim David to make 50.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Sixers Prediction
Wednesday, January 15, 7:30pm AEDT – Adelaide Oval
Steve Smith is back in the BBL and back doing what he does best – smashing centuries.
The Aussie legend hit his third Big Bash ton last start as he led the Sixers to victory over the Scorchers.
His masterful 121 not out drew him level with Ben McDermott for the most centuries in the competition.
They both now have three a piece, the difference being McDermott needed 100 games to hit his, while Smith needed just 32.
While another ton might be a stretch on the road to the Strikers, Smith is clearly in the zone and should be able to blast Sydney to victory here and perhaps the BBL title come season's end.
Head-to-head prediction: Sydney Sixers.
Betting tip: Steve Smith top run scorer and Sixers to win.
