St Kilda vs West Coast Eagles Prediction - Round 7 2026

24/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

In desperate need of a confidence-boosting victory after a tight loss to the Crows, St Kilda will welcome West Coast to Marvel Stadium in Round 7 of the AFL.

The Saints dropped to 13th on the ladder at 2-4 and will be keen to spark themselves back into form with a win over the lowly West Coast.

The potential return of Max King, who is currently listed as a test after a long-term back injury, would provide a much-needed spark up forward.

West Coast also holds a 2-4 record in 2026, though its latest three outings - losses to Sydney, Geelong and Fremantle by an average margin of 77 points may be more indicative of where the club is at.

With that said, the Eagles could be more competitive this weekend considering St Kilda was the only side they defeated across their 23 matches during the 2025 season.

That 108-80 victory at Optus Stadium in Round 10 of 2025 was the only highlight in what was the worst season performance in the history of the AFL.

With a host of injuries across key positions, a West Coast upset would be an impressive feat against the Saints; who are underperforming with a list that includes guns like Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Tom De Koning and Jack Sinclair.

The Eagles will be hoping to snag a victory here and get them further away from potential wooden spoon contention, but this may be a bridge too far.

St Kilda vs West Coast Eagles Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Ross Lyon may have been prickly and difficult after last week’s one-point loss, asking us to look at their improvement rather than their 2-4 scoreline.

However, if they lose this, the only thing that will matter is the win-loss column. Thankfully, we can see this being a training run under the roof at Marvel Stadium.

Darcy Wilson’s game is currently strong, Rowan Marshall was at his best back in the middle last week and veteran Jack Sinclair continues to be a prolific ball-winner behind the footy, averaging 30.7 disposals per game this season.

The Saints still need Mitch Owens, Mattaes Phillipou and Cooper Sharman to consistently step up to be a threat in coming seasons.

West Coast’s growth is evident but remains slow and painful. Their young tall players are talented but often find themselves outmuscled in the contest.

While we love the energy of Willem Duursma and Harley Reid and the calm distribution of Josh Lindsay at half-back, it is hard to see them overcoming a desperate Saints outfit at home.

Head-to-head prediction: St Kilda by 41 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Mitch Owens is a great shout to open the scoring in this one. The youngster is more than capable in the air or on the ground and has a knack for finding possession in the right place and right time.

He has been finding his rhythm in the forward half, tallying nine goals from his last five games, including two majors in the narrow loss to Adelaide last weekend.

With the Eagles' defence often struggling under early pressure, Owens' ability to win the ball inside 50 make him a primary target to slot the first major.

Betting tip: Mitch Owens.

Most Disposals Prediction

Veteran and former All Australian Jack Sinclair is still one of the most influential players in this St Kilda team.

Sinclair is averaging over 30 disposals this season and is coming off a massive 35-possession performance against the Crows.

Whether he’s sweeping across half-back or pushing into the midfield, expect him to lead the stats sheet as the Saints look to control the tempo from the opening bounce.

Betting tip: Jack Sinclair.
