Fremantle Dockers vs Carlton Prediction - Round 7 2026

24/04/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

In the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week, Carlton will travel west to tackle a red-hot Fremantle side at Optus Stadium on for Round 7.

From a football perspective, it was more of the same for the Blues during Round 6, blowing a 23-point lead to fall 88-83 against Collingwood at the MCG.

This marked the fourth time Michael Voss’s men have led by 20+ points and lost in just six matches this season.

This new habit adds insult to injury for Carlton fans who have been waiting patiently for 29 years since their last flag.

Meanwhile, Fremantle made easy work of West Coast last weekend, triumphing 97-41 at Optus Stadium to notch their fifth straight win.

Jordan Clark was a man possessed, racking up 27 disposals and 11 score involvements to snag the Glendinning-Allan Medal for best on ground in the Battle of the West.

Jye Amiss was channelling big Nev energy as he slotted a career-high five majors goals against the Eagles.

With the Dockers humming and the Blues seemingly allergic to keeping a lead, it could be a long night for the Blues.

At least the Carlton faithful are expecting disappointment already.

Fremantle Dockers vs Carlton Blues Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

Things go from bad to worse to unthinkably horrible for the men in Navy Blue. We feel for the club and its fans as the season continues to unravel in various forms.

Staggeringly, the one thing that barely got a mention after last week’s loss to the Pies was them giving up another halftime lead.

Here, we doubt they’ll have that worry as Freo look to be rolling into the season nicely. At 5-1, with plenty of upside left in them, it’s borderline impossible to see Carlton making any type of headway in this one.

While the Blues’ midfield duo of Patrick Cripps and Sam Walsh will fight to the death, they are facing a purple wave of momentum that is currently sweeping the competition.

Expect the Dockers to exploit Carlton’s depleted defensive stocks. Without Jacob Weitering to anchor the backline, the Blues will struggle to contain the aerial threat of Amiss and Josh Treacy.

On neutral territory, you might give Carlton a puncher’s chance, but in front of a rabid Perth crowd, the Purple Haze will roll on.

Head-to-head prediction: Fremantle by 44 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Jye Amiss is hitting white-hot form at exactly the right time for the Dockers. After his five-goal haul last week, he’ll be the first name the Carlton defenders look for and likely the first one they fail to stop.

Jye doesn’t A miss very often and this season he’s just started to hit his straps.

He has become a specialist at finding space in the opening term, and with the Blues' defence prone to high-pressure lapses, expect Amiss to open the purple party early in front of the home fans.

Betting tip: Jye Amiss.

Most Disposals Prediction

Even when the Blues are struggling, Sam Walsh remains a consistent standout. He is effectively a human ball magnet who consistently racks up 30+ disposals regardless of the scoreboard.

His work rate in transition is unmatched, and in a game where Carlton will likely be doing plenty of defending, expect him to be the primary distributor trying to drag his side back into the contest.

Betting tip: Sam Walsh.
