Round 23 of the AFL season is the second-last chance for clubs to sort themselves out before September and top 10 largely looks decided at this point.

But that certainly doesn’t mean there isn’t value on offer, if anything, there’s more to find for experts as some players have everything to play for, where others are starting to think about Mad Monday costumes.

Freo host Adelaide under lights at Optus on Friday night, Hawthorn and Collingwood square off in a Saturday night blockbuster at the MCG and the QClash returns to the Gabba after Dimma’s Suns finally secure a win.

There are plenty of players to keep an eye on every week and Round 23 is no different.

Murphy Reid - Fremantle Dockers vs Adelaide Crows

Murphy Reid is a freak and 2026 has been HIS year. Last week… Not so much.

Melbourne's Koltyn Tholstrup did a proper job on Murphy Reid last week, holding him to just eight touches by half-time before Reid finally found some air.

He'll cop attention again on Friday night, but I reckon he handles it far better second time around and he's back at Optus where he averages 26.2 disposals across his last five, against a season average of 23.4.

Worth noting the team hadn't been named at time of writing, with Reid managing a knock from the Melbourne game, but if he lines up, he's my first bolter of the week.

Betting tip: Murphy Reid OVER 21.5 disposals.

Luke Davies-Uniacke - North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Geelong Cats

If you missed LDU last week, go back and watch it.

Thirty-one disposals, two goals, 10 tackles and 10 clearances against the Dogs at Marvel, best on ground in one of North's best wins of the Clarkson era.

He's cleared 25 disposals in three of his last five and three of his last five at Marvel, which is exactly where the Roos take on Geelong this Saturday.

Form like that doesn't just evaporate in a week.

Betting tip: Luke Davies-Uniacke OVER 24.5 disposals.

Jai Newcombe - Hawthorn Hawks vs Collingwood Magpies

Newcombe is one of the premier clearance players in the comp this season, averaging 7.8 a game.

Round 21 against North was the proof; 34 disposals and 12 clearances.

He's averaged 29 disposals across his last three and he had 28 vs the Pies back in Round 8.

Saturday night at the G, in a game this big, I think he could go absolutely massive.

Clayton Oliver - GWS Giants vs West Coast Eagles

Clarry loves Engie Stadium, averaging 31.4 disposals there across his last five.

The Giants' midfield has been gutted this year with Tom Green, Josh Kelly and Finn Callaghan all done for the season, which means the ball-winning load falls largely on Oliver's shoulders.

He also went for 38 disposals against West Coast back in Round 10, so the matchup history is there.

Home deck, no help around him, with the history in place; that's a recipe for a big number.

Betting tip: Clayton Oliver OVER his disposals line.

Tom Papley - Sydney Swans vs Essendon Bombers

Paps has kicked 12 goals in his last five games and looks as sharp as he has all year.

He was busy again in the Swans' demolition of Port, chipping in with two of his own in a third quarter that put the game to bed.

I'm struggling to see where Essendon finds a matchup for him inside 50, especially with Sydney's midfield delivering the way it currently is.

Sunday at the MCG feels like another feast for Paps.
