Melbourne Demons vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction - Round 10 2026
13/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions
Both undefeated at the MCG in 2026, Melbourne and Hawthorn will put those perfect home records to the test when the two sides clash in Round 10 at the Home of Football.
Melbourne improved its overall record to 6-3 this season in last weekend’s 99-67 dispatching of the lowly West Coast Eagles.
This saw them climb to 7th on the competition ladder; a position they’ll be looking to retain after falling to 14th position at the end of last season.
The Dees have reclaimed their status as a powerhouse of attacking footy, having scored the 4th most points this season in the AFL.
Elsewhere, Hawthorn was on the end of a blistering Fremantle comeback which saw the Hawks give up a 19-point fourth-quarter lead to ultimately fall 88-73 and mark only their second failure of the 2026 season.
The two meetings between these clubs last season ended with almost identical scorelines, with Hawthorn winning 91-56 in Round 9 and 92-56 in Round 23.
Jack Gunston was influential across those fixtures, booting 10 goals, while James Sicily held down the other end with averages of 23.0 disposals and 9.0 intercepts.

Melbourne Demons vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction and Betting Tips
Head-to-Head Prediction
This might be the most exciting game of the weekend. Two MCG tenants, both excelling this season at their home ground, are ready to trade blows.
The Hawks have secured three wins and a draw on home soil, while the Dees have won all five at the ‘G and have scored heavily in doing so.
This will be Melbourne’s largest test yet; the Hawks spread the ground and kick the ball probably as well as any team in the AFL.
We know the Dees are powerful offensively, but defensively they still have work to do. In terrible news for Hawks fans, Tom Barrass is set to miss several weeks after injuring his hamstring, which could open the door for the Dees' talls.
However, the Hawks' high-octane style and recent dominance in this matchup suggest they have the mental edge in this one.
A game of the round contender - and we expect the Hawks to find that extra gear late in the piece.
Head-to-head prediction: Hawthorn Hawks by 20 points.
First Goal Scorer Prediction
It has simply got to be Jack Gunston. The veteran spearhead is currently second on the Coleman Medal tally and is looking virtually impossible to stop in the air.
Gunston has a history of haunting the Demons and with Hawthorn often starting fast at the MCG, he will be the clear go-to man early for the Hawkies.
Expect Gunners to find himself with space inside 50 to slot the opening major of the afternoon.
Betting tip: Jack Gunston.
Most Disposals Prediction
We picked it last week as Karl Amon and we were spot on; our boy Karl is primed to make another massive impact here.
Amon’s elite kicking and ability to find space on the wing make him a key distributor for the Hawks' transition play.
With the wide expansive wings of the MCG suiting his style perfectly, we are backing him to lead the stats sheet here once again as the Hawks look to dictate the tempo of the match.
Betting tip: Karl Amon.
