Sydney Swans vs Collingwood Magpies Prediction - Round 10 2026

13/05/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

Round 10 of AFL footy rolls into the harbour city this Friday night for a huge clash as the leader-leading Sydney Swans host the infamous Collingwood Magpies.

The Swans were clinical in Round 9, overcoming a 16-count deficit of inside 50s to secure a 105-97 victory over the Kangaroos.

Isaac Heeney was undoubtedly the architect of that win, linking up sublimely through the middle of the field and continuing his Brownlow-medal-worthy-season.

While Hayden McLean proved the depth of the Swans' forward line by slotting three majors in his first game of the year.

On the other hand, the Magpies arrive at the SCG after being severely outclassed by Geelong in a 122-68 shellacking to celebrate Pendles’ record-equalling match.

The Pies’ midfield-forward connection issues reappeared at the worst possible time, and their backline struggled to stem the bleeding in the second half after skipper Darcy Moore was ruled out with concussion.

While Collingwood secured a win in the last meeting between these two, winning by 31 points during last year's Gather Round, the current trajectories of these two clubs couldn't be further apart.

With the Swans humming and the Pies missing key pillars, this Round 10 fixture is a massive test for Craig McRae’s men against the very best in the competition.

Sydney Swans vs Collingwood Magpies Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

The Pies copped a lesson from the "handball-happy" Cats last week, which eventually cut them up and allowed Geelong to post a massive total.

No prizes for guessing what’s coming here with the ladder-leading Swans: more of that high-octane handball game.

While there are always queries on how that plan stacks up when the pressure of September rises, at the SCG in mid-May, it shouldn't be a problem for Sydney.

Collingwood's task is made even harder with Scott Pendlebury staying home to freshen up for his record-breaking game next week, while the form of veteran Steele Sidebottom is becoming a talking point as he shifts into more defensive roles.

Without Darcy Moore to anchor the defence, the Magpies will struggle to contain a Sydney attack that is currently the most clinical in the competition.

Expect the Swans to control the tempo and pull away with a few late goals.

head-to-head prediction: Sydney Swans by 25 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

Charlie Curnow missed last week with an abdominal issue, but we expect the superstar recruit to be back with a bang this Friday night.

Curnow will likely be burning that he missed the win over the Roos and will be keen to impact the scoreboard early against a Moore-less Magpies defence.

He looks right at home in the Harbour City and is our top pick to ignite the SCG crowd with the opening major.

Betting tip: Charlie Curnow.

Most Disposals Prediction

Daicos was heavily tagged last week by Oisin Mullin and the Cats last week; still managing to secure 29 involvements and being best on ground for the losing side.

With Pendles out of the lineup, even more of the creative burden falls on Nick’s shoulders.

Whereas the Swans have a handful of stars to share distribution duties with - Daicos very much takes up a quarterback role for this Pies outfit.

He is the heartbeat of Collingwood's transition play and should comfortably clear 30+ disposals as he tries to drag his side back into the contest.

Betting tip: Nick Daicos.
