Gold Coast Suns vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction - Round 15 2026

17/06/2026|Josh Jenkins|AFL Tips & Predictions

The pressure is mounting on the 9th placed Suns as they host the Hawthorn Hawks on the Goldy for Round 15.

Damien Hardwick’s Suns enter this clash, fresh off two confidence-shattering defeats against the Cats and Lions respectively. With their grip on a finals spot slipping away, Gold Coast will be desperate for a win over Hawthorn this Friday night.

To make matters worse, there is plenty of unwanted noise and uncertainty away from the field.

Superstar spearhead Ben King is yet to sign a new contract, while young talent Jed Walter is reportedly entertaining conversations with rival Victorian clubs. Rumours are swirling about coaching stability and player relationships, meaning only a win can silence the critics.

Meanwhile, the Hawkies will be feeling fresh, coming off the bye, but before that they went down to the Dogs at the death, 77-71.

These two teams have already met in 2026, not long ago actually - back in Round 7 at UTAS Stadium in Hobart.

Jack Gunston kicked five in that one, leading the Hawks to a 112-63 victory, however the Hawkies will be without him in this one as he recovers from injury.

With the wildcard race officially heating up, Gold Coast need a win to shut out the noise and get their season back on track. For Hawthorn, a statement victory will keep them inside the top four.

Gold Coast Suns vs Hawthorn Hawks Prediction and Betting Tips

Head-to-Head Prediction

It is getting real noisy on the Gold Coast right now with intense media questions surrounding personnel, coaching stability and whether player relationships are where they need to be. Only one thing quietens all that noise, and that is winning football matches.

The problem is a very good opponent rolls into town also needing to rediscover some of their own great form. The Hawks are a fantastic football team, there’s almost no doubt about that, but they’ve dropped a couple they should’ve won and are still very much fighting for places third and fourth alongside about six others.

Despite the big names in Gold Coast red, Jai Newcombe, Will Day, and Cam Mackenzie will be bullish on winning the midfield battle and giving its forwards a real good look in southeast Queensland.

For the Suns' on-ball crew, it is about time they get to work and actually deliver on the talent that’s written down on paper.

The Suns would do well to realise the game is played on grass, not on paper! We still believe they’ll be okay, but maybe they’re not quite ready to do anything as a group in 2026.

Head-to-head prediction: Gold Coast Suns by two points.

Betting tip: Gold Coast Suns 1-39 points.

First Goal Scorer Prediction

With all headlines questioning where Ben King is heading next seasons, it seems easy to forget where he is right now.

He’s living it up in paradise on earth at the Gold Coast and has booted a handy 42 goals to lead the Coleman tally. The journos can speculate all they want, but he’ll be playing for the Suns this weekend and has been kicking majors for fun in 2026.

We have Kingy silencing the critics with a bag full of goals – the Gold Coast mids will scrap for the ball early and look straight for Kingy in space.

Betting tip: Ben King first goal scorer.

Most Disposals Prediction

If the home side is going to cause an upset and reverse their recent losing skid, their skipper will have to carry an enormous load.

We have the Suns skipper down for a massive performance around the stoppages to lead his team to victory here.

With the Hawks likely deploying heavy attention elsewhere, Anderson will have free reign to accumulate the leather and comfortably lead the stats sheet.

Betting tip: Noah Anderson most disposals.
