KALIF DU BERLAIS (3) looked very smart when winning the G1 Rosconn Group Maghull Novices Chase at Aintree last season and can put a below-par reappearance in the G2 Haldon Gold Cup (Hcap) behind him. Paul Nicholls has an excellent record in this race having won three of the last five renewals and he looks to have found a good spot for the unexposed six-year-old. The likeable EDWARDSTONE (4) could be the main danger after proving he still had what it takes to compete in this grade when second in the 4000m G2 Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon last time. BOOMBAWN (2) is two from three here and will find this better ground more suitable. MASTER CHEWY (1) completes the field of four.
