KIA KAHA (5) set the pace and stuck on gamely for third at Taupo nearly 2 weeks ago over a similar trip. She is improving all the time and was only beaten by a nose at Arawa Park before that. She has a good draw and is overdue for another win. THE LIQUIDATOR (4) showed plenty of promise in his initial prep, before being put aside to mature. He is a 6-year-old having only his sixth start, and his connections will be eager for him to make up for lost time. If he doesn't need the run, then he can win this. SHACKTIME (12) has only failed on wet tracks, with her only win in 4 starts being on firmer footing. She resumes from a spell that would have done her the world of good, and a big run is expected fresh up. ONLY THE LONELY (8) was runner-up here when resuming and then gave a good sight in front for a long way at Trentham 3 weeks before weakening late to finish fourth. She is spot on with her fitness now, and won't be far away again. LADY ROSABELLA (10) has each-way claims at value.
