Modest race. PHANTOM'S CHASE was a disappointing $2.10 fav last time. He crossed from his outside draw to lead them. Although not beaten far he was entitled to hang on a little better. His effort here prior from a similarly low draw was better. I'm looking at $1.45 as I write which seems ridiculously short. IDLING BEHIND beat him home and her effort was good. With more luck she wins that race. In 2000m+ maidens RING THE SHERIFF is 4 starts for 4 placings. The 3rd here in one of these April 15 is a good form reference for a weak race. He ran well at Kyneton last week and he's ready to breakthrough. As the early market would suggest, the winner should be in this trio with RING THE SHERIFF being the most appealing odds.
