MAISON LOUIS was shaping quite well - he beat PORTLAND home in the Gosford Cup - and then last start was hindered when making a run (but that can happen when you settle 17th in a field of 18). Onto drier should really help. THEBUDGIESMUGLA unbeaten from five starts at 2200/2400m. Handles all conditions. Possible leader BLACK RUN got on a winning run last spring and should be happy switching from Heavy to dry. PORTLAND handled a wet track last start but now finds different ground and rises significantly in weight. CABOCHE was a QLD Derby placegetter and has also run top three in a decent 2800m race so it is interesting to see him try 2400m for the first time in more than two-and-a-half years.
