A Rising Star heat, full of (mostly claiming) apprentices. It's a bit of a tricky one, with chances given to several of these. Main pace from 1, 6, 5 and 3? HONEY MAKER is my starting point and that's not a stretch given she is a last start winner at the track and trip. She took a fair while to break through but has now scored in three of her latest nine. She is way deep into a prep that started last September but the stable can keep them up a long time. We note well that ZAMPARINI SPIRIT won on the same day (in R1 while HONEY was R8) and ran a second faster overall. LULU DARLING is certainly consistent but it's now 17 starts and 20 months since her latest win. Makisha Salter is essentially the only rider here with experience on her horse and in her case she has ridden WILLIAMSTOWN on several occasions (10 for 1:0:1 to be precise).
