JACK CRABB (4) did not take long to win his first race in the South Island when scoring second up at Riccarton 12 days ago, and he looks to be well placed at this level with 2kg less to carry. The small field will help him, and he can repeat the dose. O'RIORDAN (1) likes to race on the pace, and that can be beneficial on this course. She maps to do no work from the pole position, and she will be hard to hold out in this. BALANCE OF POWER (3) has raced his way back into form, and he is at his best on wet ground. His last start third is good enough form for him to feature in the top 3 again. FRENCH DOLL (6) had to work a touch from a wide gate when battling away to finish sixth as the favourite at Oamaru just over 2 weeks ago, and she will relish stepping up to 1600m for the first time this prep. Stick with her on an each-way basis. DELMONICO (2) was an easy last start winner in a similar field, and an extra 2.5kg may not be enough to stop him from going back to back.
