CORN TOPS (14) earns top billing after a decisive last-start win at this track, working home over the top to beat Aitoka Koitoka by just under two lengths. The wide draw is the obvious complication, but she has already won at this track and distance and brings the strongest recent winning form. LAVATERA JANE (11) turned her form around sharply when second to Black Red at long odds, and that line has extra merit with African Beat behind her. She remains a maiden after 27 starts, so the winning case is not without a reservation. AFRICAN BEAT (10) has been around the mark, beaten a neck two back and then just over two lengths last start when picking up nicely. His overall place consistency keeps him right in the contest. LOVELY YOSHINO (6) resumes after a consistent winter campaign, with a track-and-distance win in the book and enough recent-season placing form to make him a genuine danger fresh.
