ACQUA VIRILE (6) is the one to beat after stretching his winning sequence to eight with a three-length C1 success at this track, where he was backed into very short odds and put the race away quickly. His record at around 1400m is perfect from eight attempts, and four from four at this track and distance gives the case real substance. BRIGHT COLOR (3) is the clear danger on current form, having won his past two C1 starts at this venue, most recently as a short odds-on favourite when scoring by a nose from Fractal. ASTAEQUUS (1) has to rebound from being beaten just over five lengths as favourite, but his track-and-trip record and third-up profile keep him in the winning mix. CRETE D'OR (5) is more a solid threat than a dominant one, with a terrific record at this track and distance offsetting the fact she was beaten three lengths after failing to finish off last start.
