LUX RAYMOND (3) was strongly fancied when resuming last start but was beaten 11 lengths into sixth over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt. Made late ground and drawn far better this time. Has a decent second up record. Can improve sharply. SAMMARU NOVEL (5) ran fourth at his latest appearance over 1150m at Fukushima Dirt, finishing 5 lengths from the winner as favourite. A bold showing is expected. SELVANS (1) finished last campaign with a couple of minor placings, the latest over 1200m at Niigata Dirt ten weeks ago. Expected to be competitive. ZAOULI (6) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a nice race when fresh from a spell last time out, finishing third and beaten only 1.75 lengths over 1000m at Kokura Dirt. Sure to be in the mix.
